The ocean waves slammed against my heart.
The water, dripping down my hair and face.
Scared of the world, and of people,
But faithful to the ocean.
The ocean is the only thing I can trust.
But then, theirs the shallow.
A place of both.
My guilt, my regret, and my yearning,
To be one of them.
To be like them.
I wish I could trust more,
Than the pounding against my heart.
Than the proof of pain running down my face.
The shallow is a place where they all go,
To enjoy the ocean.
To enjoy the cool waters on a summer day.
When really,
It's a gardian.
It protects me from everything,
Because I understand.
I understand everything is a danger.
And I can't protect myself from everything.
