Chapter 9 - A battle field of knowledge and emotions

Aqua left for the academy as usual that day. It had been a month since her first day and things were going not that badly.

She was now considered a stellar student who held high hopes in the eyes of the teachers. As for social life, She thought Emilia had become a bit close to her but she was slapped in the face with the reality. The girl suddenly started ignoring her. Emilia originally led a major group of girls, but it seemed that she had a fight with them, so she came by Aqua's side. Both were good students and discussed problems and raced each other in completion of tasks, Aqua didn't mind being used as secondary company and liked that Emilia enjoyed her company as the girl often laughed and talked to her and the sudden withdrawal was something Aqua expected but the ignoring was something that hurt her. She was enduring the loss of trust with difficulty but revealed it to no one. She clearly understood her position and knew her feelings were useless but still couldn't help but succumb to herself. She felt a sense isolation from Emilia and her group.

A side duo of two girls however, befriended her. Ellen and Christie were best friends in junior high and it continued here as well. Aqua chatted with them from time to time, they would invite her to sit with them with Aqua literally always hesitant. Christie was fond of anime like Aqua, so they chatted about some series and made suggestions to each other. Ellen would come to Aqua with doubts or talk about things happening at her home, she would also listen to Aqua when she shared her stories. However, Ellen would sometimes be dominating and had a short temper. She would demand Aqua to send her notes and texted ineccessntly to Hurry up.

At the same time there was a girl called Melfina Biscay, she was originally a part of Emilia's group but separated and became a lone wolf like Aqua. Aqua had denied involvement in the groups, she turned down their exclusive offers. She had two reasons one was that after having her trust broken like that, she didn't want to suffer again and the other was that the company she was exposed to was not as good as it seemed. Melfina ended up with Aqua for a while, once again Aqua felt the situation was similar to before so was cautious this time. She didn't like three things about Melfina, though she was spontaneous and bold, she often was rather self-centered and didn't pay much attention when Aqua spoke, she would also say that religious rulings abt modesty would not allow her to pursue her dreams, the last straw was when they decided to write religious teachings on the board but she denied all the ideas Aqua gave and instead suggested things which were motivational types and so on. Aqua also had religious debates with Emilia, some had a good outcome and others were just hastily closed by Aqua and one was abruptly cut when Emilia cried over it, irritating Aqua to the core. Emilia continued these antics time to time. Aqua decided to not get involved in any of the matters in class and was just a side character in all major events. Aqua usually reported things to her mother on a daily basis and she advised her to cut ties with Emilia, speak up to Ellen and not get toyed with by others. As for the boys, she hardly ever talked to them, she only responded to their questions.

However, the teacher had assigned Acrys to her. The class teacher made groups under above average students. Aqua's group included Ellen, Christie, acrys and damain. She would coax and assign each person tasks so that they would flip through the coursebook and at least get some work done. Acrys however would be troublesome and moody, not listening to her obediently. Despite the silver hair and blue eyes making him look like a doll, he was simply an annoying brat she was responsible for.
