Dorian's POV
"Get everything arranged as quickly as possible," Vivienne's voice came through the phone.
"Of course, mother," I responded, my pulse hammering against my ribs.
When Elena had handed me the phone moments earlier, her fingers had grazed mine, sending my heart into overdrive.
"Make sure she's properly cared for, Dorian," Vivienne's tone warmed.
"She'll be fine. I'll handle it," I assured her.
"Thank you, sweetheart," she said before hanging up.
I exhaled heavily, shoving the phone into my back pocket. For the first time in my life, I felt embarrassed by my body's reaction.
Turning slowly, I dropped my hand to hide the obvious bulge straining against my pants. I cleared my throat. "So... what can I do for you?"
Elena remained silent, and that's when I caught the terror flickering in her gaze.
I stepped closer. "Hey, what's going on? You alright?"
