Chapter 2 - Bloody Encore

Warning: Info Dumpish.

~

Breathe.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Close your eyes.

Feel the darkness.

Feel the pitch.

The pitch of life.

Feel the beating heart.

Listen to the melody.

Is it fast?

Is it slow?

Oh wait.

My heart doesn't beat anymore.

So I can't.

No wonder I couldn't hear shit.

Okay, so I'm in a dilemma. That'd be an understatement. An existential crisis. Yup. That's the correct term.

I'm currently having one… and no, it's not a Tuesday. Usually, I have crises on Tuesdays, it's literally marked on my calendar as the crisis day but yeah.

Today is a Sunday. I'm still on the pot… under the gaze of this hot bombshell who's literally rolling her eyes at me right now.

Heh. I think she's getting used to it.

My brain, my mind is in shambles.

Three egos. My first life. Mazzy Blackrosé. This life. Vesper Bloodvaine. The third ego- Vamp Vesper.

Normally I think my second life ego would completely dissolve under the pressure of the vampire venom that had changed every part of my DNA but it didn't… instead the moment I chose to give up my humanity as Vesper Bloodvaine… I awakened my memories as Mazzy.

It's weird. Anomalous.

Now that I'm regaining more clarity, I'm able to remember certain things more clearly.

Three egos… yes… but I can feel them merging as the seconds pass by.

If I hadn't managed to awaken my first life memories… surely, I would have turned into a ghoul.

Vesper wouldn't be able to handle the stress.

The ego clearly wasn't strong enough, its will couldn't hold onto the changes in every single part of the flesh's inherent structure.

The ego would crumble. A vampire to be a true one needs an ego to control it.

A vampire's physiology is such that the flesh requires control at a molecular level constantly… It's not like a human body that has everything in control most of the time.

A strong ego is required. It drives the flesh.

Will given flesh. Being able to control every single aspect.

Once the ego collapses. The vampire becomes a ghoul… and even humans when freshly turned… go through the process of becoming either beast or monster.

Monster being a humanoid ghoul. A Vampyre.

It was 2093. My previous life. That's when I died I think. Not from old age… oh no no no… it was a Bloody Encore.

The world had crumbled to dust. Society had collapsed before… and as they say… chaos is a ladder… it really is.

The world couldn't sustain itself. The World Wars made sure. Half of the population had already been wiped out by 2050. That was just World War 3.

Viruses… bombs one could not ever even dream of… they weren't atom bombs or anything humanity had seen before.

The governments of the world had constantly been developing weapons in the dark from their population.

If that wasn't enough… the schemes and ploys ran too deep. Propaganda. Oh, the propaganda. All similar to a script.

They maneuvered everything. Skirmishes, riots… anything and everything… it was all scripted… the humans a part of it? They were mere emotional creatures very well manipulated.

The media was never independent.

AI especially. Artifucking Intelligence.

What a well-developed little tool.

Once humanity fell dependent on it… by the year 2033… completely addicted… the game changed.

The humans were played like a twiddle. It was that easy.

Slowly critical skills declined, people became lazier… more emotional… more egoistic… more controlled by propaganda.

Hatred was rampant.

Oh the hatred, oh the hatred… oh the hatred.

Anger, greed, envy… and Hatred.

What else can a bored individual do? The human mind requires stress, it requires pressure… it requires thinking on its own.

However, they took it all and technology only advanced more rapidly.

An addicted weak society that only knew how to sit at home or even sleep on the streets… as long as they had an internet connection and a phone to doomscroll on.

Oh, the internet was free alright. The speed of it is what wasn't.

The government owned every information about a person's daily life, nothing remained personal anymore… from fingerprints that could be used to pay for products to even a person's thoughts.

Even a human's thoughts weren't personal. They walked with AI chips embedded in their brains by the year 2037.

Technology had advanced too fast. The public wasn't aware, but they loved it. Life's easier. There's no need to work hard.

Foolish human beings. Eternally naive. Eternally tempted. Like Eve bit into the apple, humanity had gained another one of them.

Humanity had once again bit into it.

This time, worse.

Everything only got worse.

When the Fourth World War ended… the society was a dystopia and the world that human beings from the 2025s probably knew of… had long since disappeared.

Just like how they forgot the 2000s and the 90s.

George Orwell's 1984 wasn't much of a dream anymore.

Everything was controlled.

There was no King. No monarch as such or even a president.

No, no, no….

A single nation where all the humans lived.

Know what the 'state' was called as? Company.

The ruler was the CEO… one whose face nobody had really ever seen… an absolutely corrupt… all-powerful executive.. and his council of ministers were the board of directors.

Those who worked in the company were the nobles of society.

The peasants?

They were the consumers.

Soulless consumers by the way.

Humanity after all was already long dead.

In a world so normalized to technology… especially one that had advanced so rapidly… people only wanted more… and more dopamine.

That was the product.

Pure bliss.

Not sex. Not love. Not even a dream. Even a dream wasn't a product anymore. Humanity had stopped dreaming.

Humanity only knew how to consume at that point. Wars could go by, a person could get killed… anything evil could happen but humanity wouldn't bat an eye… humanity would consume and consume until they'd drop dead.

Me however… I was built different.

I still possessed a certain ability… the ability to dream.

I was able to sleep. I was able to dream.

Now I may say that humanity was soulless at this point but I'm not telling the entire truth.

While most of my body had already been replaced by technology… There was still a little bit of blood left in me.

That blood made all the difference.

Humanity's greatest boon and greatest

weapon is blood.

Blood unlike what people may think… is more alive than anything else. It's power given form and it has eyes despite vision, ears despite the ability to hear… every sense… and more… spiritually as well.

Blood was observing, it was dissatisfied by humanity, and now since human beings whose very nature is rebellion blessed by Lucifer himself… had given up… it was such a shock that the liquid of life had to act.

My blood awakened.

I didn't have memories but all the emotions, pain, hardship, learnt skills, discipline, regime… that every human being before me had experienced… every human dream… they came to me subconsciously like living instinct.

I was the last hope for humanity and the blood inside me was begging to save it.

I did.

Not in the ordinary way.

It was a tough process.

Easy though, I just had to remind human beings that they were human beings…. Not soulless… and not robots… their thoughts were different from the artificial intelligence in them.

I taught them all of it… through music.

Vibrations… and human emotions embedded in them… emotions that they had forgotten but the little blood left in them remembered…

Rock and roll.

Humanity was starting to revive.

The company didn't like it but by the time the company came to know… it was too late.

After all who could imagine a rebellion like that would happen? Human beings had become obedient right??

The blood remembered.

The blood wasn't obedient.

They killed me. Not my rock. Not the way I rolled. My death woke all of them up.

The blood was now boiling.

Hence I repeat… heh…

It was a Bloody Encore.
