Chapter 3 - First success

After Violet and Legolas walked to the front, a few more people from the core family walked in, a prestigious looking young man and lady, with silver hair, carrying themselves proudly.

They were twins, Dawn and Dusk Julius, if Leon recalled properly.

And then finally came the prodigy among prodigies, according to what Leon had heard. He was not only talented in martial arts from a young age, but extremely smart.

He was the third son of the current head, born from his second wife. Aiden Julius. He walked in almost the same way that his sister Violet had walked in, oozing with pride, and a faint smile on his face.

His purple hair was properly combed back, his eyes looked like they could see through all lies, his figure perfect. Even the way he walked screamed elegance. And despite the fact that in one way or other they were family, the girls from the inner and outer family were fawning over him with wide eyes.

"You've got to be kidding me, this is incest," Leon thought, but in all honesty, it wasn't considered that as long as you weren't direct brothers or sisters. Such marriages were allowed, sometimes even encouraged, to keep a purer bloodline.

Now to someone like Leon who came from Earth that didn't do this, it felt weird that such a thing was in the memory of his new body. But that was how things worked in this new world.

Not that it had anything to do with him. Such things were not on the agenda for now. For now, he needed to lock in and get the best possible outcome to kickstart his life.

Finally, after a few minutes went by, it was sure that everyone that needed to be here was already here, and the doors were shut. If anyone missed it, then they would have lost their opportunity forever.

After the doors were shut, a smaller door at the corner of the front of the hall opened, and a man walked in, purple hair, in a pristine noble suit. He was tall and handsome.

He walked to the stage and stood beside the orb, his eyes, which were like slits, scanned the entire room. "I'm sure everyone that is here already knows what they are here for?" he asked.

"Today, you'll all be awakening your summoning system and becoming official summons. The Julius family is known throughout the empire for being one of the greatest summoning families.

If you wish to stand among the family and bear its proud name, then you must first summon something today, and when you do, you can start the real journey that will determine your use.

Now we will begin. All of you are to step up one after the other and begin the process, placing your hands above the orb," he announced.

The air became tight, tension rose, the moment of truth.

The first person walked up, and it wasn't a core or main family member. It was an outer family member. His hands trembled as he approached. He would be the first to try and probably the first to fail.

If he did fail, all his dreams ended there.

The inner and outer family didn't get the type of benefits that the core and main got. The core and main got great training in martial arts, already setting them up well in life. The inner got some training, and they could be average adventurers, but for the outer, nothing.

If they failed here, they would forever be a failure, because at this point they would be far too old to start training and go far. Their everything rode on this very moment.

He placed his hands over the orb, swallowing hard, as a shimmer formed inside the orb. His heart rate increased. Everyone watched with keen eyes, ready to see what would happen next.

And then suddenly, a view only the boy could see showed right in front of him, a rectangular screen of blue light, with magical runes along the side of the screen.

No one knew what the boy saw there, but the next moment, a magical formation appeared under him, its blinding light flooding the entire hall, and when it died down, everyone saw it, a two tailed red fox bowing to the boy.

The air froze for a moment. He summoned something. He actually summoned something.

The man there looked at the summoning, and a smile actually formed on his face. The first summoning was a success. This outer family member might have just saved his entire bloodline with this.

The man walked over to the fox and bent down. "Hmm, impressive. I believe you can see its summoning rank, right?" he asked.

The classes of summoning were simple, starting from F all the way to S. Summoning anything for your first was already considered good, but everyone aimed for something at least at a C or above, so that gave it higher chances of evolution.

"So what did you get?" the man asked.

No one would lie in this situation, because doing that would only cause you more harm later. If you lied that you got higher, a certain level would be expected of your summon, and if it was incapable, a true test would be run, and when they discovered you lied, your head would fly.

"It's a B rank, sir," he spoke quickly.

The man looked at the boy, actually shocked.

"That's impressive," he said with a smile. If your first summon was so high, it only meant that this boy had a bright future ahead of him.

"Good work. You can step down now. Unsummon your fox," the man said.

The boy nodded, and with a thought alone, the fox vanished into a streak of light that went into him. He walked down under the gaze of everyone there. They all looked at him, knowing that his future was officially set as good.

"Tsk, happy for a B rank, as expected from outer members," Legolas said.

"You shouldn't talk too fast, you might get worse actually," Violet replied to him.

Legolas frowned and shot her a cold look, but she ignored him.
