Chapter 3 - Haru’s Death

HARU'S PATH

After parting ways with the Land of Shadows, Haru and Shukumei entered their domain, the Land of Light filled with cherry blossom sakura trees.

Regrettably, on their journey back, Haru starts to expel blood from his mouth and experiences severe illness, his eyes beginning to shut as his vision fades.

Shukumei descends swiftly to the ground, positioning Haru beside a tree, inquiring about his well-being, to which Haru responds with a chuckle, "hahaha looks like this is it for me, my friend."

Shukumei implores him to persevere a bit longer and initiates his healing power using his ocular abilities

Haru takes Shukumei's hand, offers a smile, and remarks, "I believe you're missing my point here.

The cost of harnessing the dark force inside me and locking it away in Itami is a significant drain on my aura.

Even if he attempted to use his ocular ability to restore my condition, it would be futile.

Haru explains that the method he employed involves spiritual energy, which results in a heavy consumption of my life force.

" Shukumei inquires why he hadn't been informed about the technique, to which Haru responds, "I withheld the information because I was certain you'd attempt to prevent me from proceeding."

Shukumei questions if he was aware of the potentially deadly outcome of employing this method yet proceeded regardless, inquiring of Haru the reason for his choice.

Haru responds that he is prepared to lay down his life for the sake of peace within the ninja world.

Particularly for his son, Inochi, he is willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of the world he envisions, stating, "This is 'My Path'."

PROMISES

FLASHBACK) HARU'S WORDS

Haru says There's something I want you to do for me my friend so please trust me my friend and ask Shukumei to take care of Inochi.

With a sorrowful expression directed at Haru, Shukumei admits that he could observe.

Haru responds to Shukumei, explaining that before the conflict, he had encapsulated the light's energy within Inochi, following the Buddha spirit's revelation that Inochi was destined to be the liberator, the progeny of radiance.

Haru further confesses that the reason for his illness was withdrawal, and he had chosen not to disclose this information to him or anyone else in the community to prevent widespread disturbance.

Additionally, he had aimed to avoid causing unnecessary concern for the villagers and to safeguard the tranquility of Sakura village.

Haru instructs Shukumei to convey everything about him to his son.

He must teach him to safeguard the village and the world of shinobi, imparting his will of light upon him.

Haru explains that Inochi must be vigilant throughout his life due to the powers he inherits, yet it's all right because of his faith in him.

Haru trusts Inochi to uphold his legacy and to continue his intentions.

Shukumei questions why he would burden his son with such responsibilities.

Haru explains, saying he always believed that one day he would illuminate the ninja world with light, serenity, and balance.

He instructs Shukumei to hand his sword over to Inochi when he matures, conveying that his blade is emblematic of his spirit and urging him to perpetuate his legacy as a Shinobi.

Additionally, he expresses his wish for Shukumei to succeed him as the Second Grandmaster.

However, Shukumei doubts his own suitability for such a role.

Haru expresses his confidence in his abilities and his trust in him, leading Shukumei to gratefully accept his offer.

Regrettably, Haru mentions that this moment is to convey his apologies to Inochi, acknowledging Shukumei's immense kindness.

He bids his ultimate farewell, looking forward to their next encounter.

Shukumei vows to look after Inochi, and as the moment arrives, Haru passes away with a peaceful smile.

Overcome with grief, Shukumei clasps Haru's lifeless form, overwhelmed by memories of their childhood spent in playful hide and seek, honing their skills at the dojo, and competing in strength, all while holding onto Haru tightly.

SADNESS AND SORROWS

Shukumei removes Haru's cloak, the dragon robe that denotes the Grandmaster of Land

Of Light, from Haru's form, and seizes his sword before placing it upon his own back.

He then lifts Haru's form and soars towards the Sakura village.

FINAL GOODBYE

Upon arriving at the village of Sakura with Haru's body in tow, Shukumei is immediately spotted by the security shinobi who promptly call for medical assistance, urging them to arrive swiftly.

Shukumei informs the shinobi that Haru is deceased, leaving the Shinobi in a state of disbelief.

Shortly after, the medical team reaches the scene and transports Haru's body to the hospital to ensure its safekeeping, all the while maintaining its integrity in full.

HARU'S CLOAK AND SWORD

Upon arriving at his residence, Shukumei carefully places Haru's blade and mantle alongside two photographs featuring them with their Sensei on the wall.

After doing so, he breaks down in tears. Dabbing his eyes, he reflects on all the moments he shared with Haru, which stirs a sense of solitude within him. Subsequently, he leaves his dwelling, feeling alone.

Additionally, he makes his way to the tallest peak near the waterfall, underneath the immense Sakura cherry blossom, where Haru spends time staring at the stars and admiring the moon.

With the wind gently blowing, Shukumei observes the moonlight.

HAMARI IYASHI

Upon reaching his destination, Shukumei inhales deeply before tapping on the door, as he anticipates Hamari's reply.

A gorgeous lady, her long, radiant brown locks and chocolate-colored eyes shining, answers the door. Delighted to see Shukumei, Hamari inquires if he is okay.

Noticing the sadness etched on Shukumei's features, Hamari's expression turns to one of concern, recognizing it as the sorrow brought forth by the dragon conflict.

Shukumei then inquires if Inochi is alright, to which Hamari responds affirmatively, mentioning he is still sleeping. Shukumei queries whether he might enter, and she welcomes him inside, offering him tea.

Shukumei agrees to have some tea, and as Hamari prepares it, pouring it into the cup, she takes a seat, and they initiate their conversation.

He shares with Hamari the news that Haru has died, eliciting a sorrowful expression and a moment of silence from Hamari.

He informs Hamari that Haru had entrusted him with the responsibility of looking after Inochi and imparting to him the shinobi ways.

However, he doubts his suitability for nurturing Inochi.

Himari reassures Shukumei of his strength and suitability as the ideal father figure for Inochi.

Hamari mentions that Inochi will greatly influence his life, leading him towards a new fate.

SHUKUMEI AND HAMARI

However, Hamari is reassured by Shukumei, who believes that everything will turn out fine and that he will nurture Inochi into an exceptional Shinobi.

Shukumei gazes upon Hamari, acknowledging her insight with a "you're right," expressing his gratitude towards her for always standing by his side and being consistently gentle with him.

Shukumei then takes Hamari's hands, gazes deeply into her eyes, and confesses his desire to stay by her side for eternity, until his last breath.

A gleam sparks in Hamari's gaze as she visualizes the romantic love, cherished memories, and deep connection she shares with Shukumei.

Upon hearing Shukumei declare his love for her for the very first time, Hamari is visibly moved, tears streaming down her face from the overwhelming emotional and physical sensation.

She reciprocates his feelings, asserting to Shukumei her love for him as well, pledging to remain by his side through both joy and adversity.

LOVE AND ROMANCE

To proceed, they exchanged smiles, reflecting the genuine affection they shared, and their relationship became official.

Shukumei inquires about Inochi's whereabouts, to which she responds that he's in the room asleep.

Shukumei then rises, and she guides him to see Inochi, who is sleeping tranquilly.

Observing Inochi, Shukumei notes how much Inochi resembles his father, with Hamari echoing the sentiment by remarking that Inochi bears a striking resemblance to his father.

Shukumei beams, then summons Hamari by name; she responds in a melodious tone.

As he begins his request, he anxiously strokes his head and inquires if Hamari could assist him in caring for Inochi.

With a smile, Hamari assures him she will always be present to witness Inochi's development into an exceptional shinobi.

Shukumei expresses his gratitude to Hamari and mentions that he must inform the hierarchy about Haru.

Hamari advises him to tread carefully as he leaves the vicinity.

Shukumei requests that Hamari join him the following day to arrange the Grandmaster's memorial service, waves, and then heads off toward the hierarchy.

THE HIERARCHY

Additionally, Shukumei makes his way to the office of the hierarchy, where upon his arrival, the door is opened for him as a sign of welcome.

As he steps inside, Shukumei observes five seats occupied by the elder statespeople from the Land of Light, seated in a dignified manner.

In a gesture of reverence, Shukumei lowers himself in a bow to honor the essence of light before him. They inquire about the purpose of his visit, asking him, "What brings you in?"

Shukumei made clear the demise of the inaugural grandmaster of the land of light. The ruling council was in shock.

Shukumei implored the governing body to notify the villagers that the grandmaster had died and that his funeral was scheduled for the next day.

He offered his gratitude with a bow, extracted the Grandmaster's robe, and mentioned that it required cleaning and mending.

Shukumei then inquired, given that Haru has passed away and is unable to assume the role of the grandmaster, what actions they will take.

They decided that a meeting to determine who will be appointed as the second grandmaster of the land of light will take place after the funeral.

Grasping the chain of command, Shukumei departed to return home.
