Chapter 1 - Soul Transfer

Ma Nation, Celestial Light City, Celestial Tower

Deep within the 15th floor of the Celestial Tower laid a ruined castle chiseled into the side of a mountain. This ruined castle marked the entrance of the C ranked Nexus Dungeon.

Famous for its hard-to-defuse traps, most players would avoid this dungeon altogether, as it was a hard dungeon to clear without high intelligence or the Trapper class.

Lying in a pool of blood, a young man was rousing awake.

When the young man opened his eyes, he was surprised to see that he could not see anything. The young man was blind.

Not only that, he tried to move his hand but even that felt foreign to him. It seemed as though his body had been mangled to the point of no return.

Cough!

The young man couldn't help but shudder. Not from the pain of his injuries, but from pure happiness.

He felt joy that his plan had worked.

"The Heaven Turning Soul Transfer Secret Art was a success!" The young man cried out in joy. Of course, all he could muster was a muffled yay, as he immediately felt a sharp pang in his throat.

'This youngster...He must have died after his throat got slit. What an unlucky fellow to die this young...I, Hanyang, will put your body to good use.'

Following that, the young man called Hanyang closed his eyes and began to feel his environment.

From the top of his head to the tips of his fingers, all the way down to his feet, Hanyang took all sensations in.

'Hmmm...This place is interesting....'

Although the room was thick with death qi with all the bodies lying around, Hanyang was feeling rather energized.

This was because the spiritual energy in the air was abundant and viscous, enough that it could be sensed by the powerless Hanyang.

'Sheesh, if this place was my abode back then, maybe...Just maybe...I could've transcended my mortal coil and ascend into the heavens! Alas, my luck wasn't that good back then...'

Thinking so, Hanyang opened his mouth to absorb the thick spiritual energy in the air.

Deng~!

With one gulp, the once mangled and bruised body of Hanyang repaired itself in an instant, with his bones reconnected and the skin around his throat regenerating at watchable speeds.

3 breaths later, Hanyang could feel the sensation of his fingers returning. His hands were cold while his finger tips felt hot when pressed against the bloody floor.

5 breaths later, the young man regained his sight, while he could feel the aching of his regenerated muscles.

When he opened his mouth to gulp the tenth time, Hanyang could feel it. The absorbed spiritual energy in his body was following a path and converging in his abdomen.

'The dantian is forming. Once the dantian is formed, my meridians should be reconnected and fixed.'

A small smile formed at the corner of Hanyang's pale lips.

Not only did he escape the imprisonment of his enemy, he had even recovered himself to the point where he may be able to cultivate again.

'Tower Lord, just you wait! I, Hanyang, will slay you and avenge my country!' Hanyang gritted his teeth and swore in his heart.

Following that, Hanyang closed his eyes and dozed off, allowing the spiritual energy to form a dantian in his abdomen on its own.

"Team leader, over here!"

"Be careful of the traps, Raez. Even if the raid party before us had already cleared them, they might have missed a few..."

"Yes, leader!"

With the sudden clamoring of metal and chattering, Hanyang who had dozed off earlier got woken up.

'Hmm? People? Are they enemies or are they friends?'

Hanyang who laid in between two heavily armored men watched the arriving party with vigilance.

His dantian had finished forming and he could circulate his inner qi to perform basic spells that didn't require a high cultivation base to use.

If the arriving party of humans had any malicious intent and were to harm him, the young man could only be at their mercy.

For that reason, Hanyang was now contemplating whether he should stop his breathing to feign death.

He could at most hold his breath for 4 minutes and that would usually be sufficient enough to fool sloppy people.

Just then, one of the approaching knights ran past the countless number of bodies on the floor and arrived in front of Hanyang.

The knight then stared at the wide eyed young man for a long time.

"Did you see any survivors?"

"None here."

"Nope."

"They're all dead, captain!"

As for the knight that was standing in front of Hanyang, they continued to stare down at him like a hawk.

'This clanker is interesting...Did they sense my breath the moment they stepped foot into this room?'

Amused, Hanyang continued to circulate inner qi into his eyes, making sure that he wouldn't lose in this staring contest while also refining his eyes.

After all, every passing moment to him was crucial.

'I'll refine my eyes following the Diamond Vajra Body Refinement Method...Let's see who beats who, brat!'

"Captain, the weird kid found a survivor and has been staring at it for close to an hour now. What should we do?"

"I thought you all said that there were none?"

"Well, I thought so too until I couldn't find Ouyang Xinyue's whereabouts. Then when I did find her, I saw that she was staring down at a body."

"Is that the survivor?"

The knight nodded in reply.

The captain of this group of knights cupped his chin for moment before he asked for the knight to lead the way.

By then, a small of group of knights had gathered around Hanyang and the knight called Ouyang Xinyue.

Hanyang deduced that they were a rescue squad of some sort and that they meant no harm.

But because he had decided to participate in this staring contest with the knight before him, Hanyang wasn't just about to admit defeat.

"Knight in training Ouyang Xinyue! Stop delaying your duties and help the young man up!"

Just then, the voice of the knight captain broke the silence.

Hearing her name being called like that, the knight called Ouyang Xinyue faltered for a moment.

Hanyang then took this opportunity to spot a proud smile and mouthed the words, "You lose."
