Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Exploring the Town

"The Blood Moon actually offers quadruple experience points?!"

Shawn exclaimed, and the Walkers wandering nearby all turned their heads, gradually approaching him.

But at this moment, Shawn suddenly regretted leading the Berserkers here.

If half of them hadn't been killed by these survivors, Shawn could have at least leveled up to Lv11 or Lv12 this time.

"Forget it, forget it. Greed is a bottomless pit. The previous me might not have been able to withstand so many Walkers at once."

"Reaching Lv9 is already the limit of my ability."

"But once I have a fortress later, I'll find a way to maximize experience gain."

Shawn happily closed the log, opened the skill panel, and it was time for another satisfying skill point allocation.

The Strength attribute required 2 skill points per level starting from Lv6, and once the Strength attribute reached Lv5, 'Skull Crusher' unlocked its next upgrade option.

2 points into Strength, bringing it to Lv6; 1 point into 'Skull Crusher', bringing it to Lv3, perfect!

[(Strong as an Ox) Level 6/10, greatly increases Strength and headshot damage (You are very strong, let the gym slackers be jealous)]

6/10 Strength

[Skull Crusher Level 3 (Specializes in using heavy weapons like large hammers to destroy enemies and structures.) — Crusher]

[Note: You can crush most things you encounter with one blow]

Crusher

Looking at the dozen or so Walkers surrounding him from all directions, Shawn pulled his Stone Hammer out of his backpack again.

He stretched his arms, looked at his gradually recovering stamina and condition, and grinned.

"Let's practice with these Walkers and see what my current combat power is like."

With that, Shawn leaped directly from the car roof, sweeping his large hammer to knock down three Walkers that had been survivors.

Shawn felt as strong as an ox at this moment.

Even his body beneath the wooden armor began to bulge with well-defined muscle groups.

The Stone Hammer, which weighed several times more, felt no different in Shawn's hands than the previous bone hammer.

The current Shawn was more suited to the title 'Barbarian' than ever before.

A single Stone Hammer danced, generating powerful gusts of wind!

If Shawn were fighting humans instead of Walkers, they would probably be forced back by the sheer force of the wind just by getting close.

Shawn swept his massive hammer, an almost tangible aura of invincibility emanating from him.

Ordinary groups of a dozen or so Walkers couldn't even get close to him.

Especially after his encounter with the Berserkers, the current shambling Walkers were practically beneath his notice.

"Slow as snails!"

Shawn roared, then brought his hammer down hard on the Walkers approaching side-by-side!

Splat--!

The heads of two Walkers suddenly burst open like watermelons!

As the last two Walker bodies staggered and fell to the ground.

[Level Up Lv9 → Lv10]

These dozen or so Walkers allowed Shawn to gain another level.

At this point, all the Walkers that had once been the [Town Survivor Camp] were completely cleared by Shawn.

In a sense, this entire survivor Camp was destroyed by Shawn, though not by his own hands.

After clearing the Camp Walkers, Shawn was not in a hurry to leave.

Various firearms were scattered on the ground. Shawn moved the food in his backpack to the back seat of the car, then put all these weapons into his backpack.

With the arrival of the apocalypse and the collapse of human civilization, these firearms were only consumed, not manufactured, becoming fewer and fewer with each use.

So, Shawn took everything he could, even damaged firearm parts, without exception.

Having finished searching outside, Shawn entered the house.

The house had two floors. As soon as Shawn entered, he saw ammunition placed in the corner, with rifles leaning neatly against a gun rack.

A quick count revealed that this 30-person survivor team actually had 7 rifles, 12 pistols, and 8 boxes of ammunition.

This was quite a lot. Shawn's team, for example, only had one rifle in Merle's hands, one pistol in Andrea's hands, and only cold weapons otherwise.

Without hesitation, Shawn took all these weapons and ammunition.

Fortunately, the system's backpack had the property of stacking items, so these weapons and ammunition actually only occupied a few backpack slots.

Then Shawn pushed open the door to the second floor, and the moment he pushed open the door, Shawn let out a sigh of relief.

There were no disheveled women, as he had imagined, in the room. All he saw were rows of beds, so it seemed this was where they slept.

"If a group of women suddenly appeared, I wouldn't know how to settle them."

Shawn shook his head. In the apocalypse, kindness could harm himself and others. Acquiring useless things, no matter how many, was only a burden.

Shawn was a man who appreciated beauty but was neither desperate nor starved for it.

Shawn would never make such a losing deal as exchanging the satisfaction of desire for a bunch of burdens.

What Shawn liked most was clear pricing, a hand-to-hand exchange of money for goods.

Who made him just a lowly pig butcher?

Other than that, he had no other thoughts.

"This place is done."

Shawn looked around every corner, loaded the remaining food and gasoline into his system backpack, and turned to walk outside.

A night had passed, but Shawn was not in a hurry to return to the Camp.

"Since I'm already here, I might as well explore the town some more."

Yesterday, Shawn had only searched the area near the Farm; half of the town remained unexplored.

The almost shattered car made a creaking sound, much like a vintage car that had endured over a decade of wear and tear.

Shawn set off from the survivor Camp and continued eastward.

He bypassed residential houses along the way, only stopping in commercial areas.

For example, shops, pharmacies, bars, and gun stores, etc…

These commercial establishments usually stored many similar types of supplies, making them easier to Search.

The sky quickly darkened.

Shawn spent a whole day searching 3 shops, 1 pharmacy, 1 bar, and 1 gun store.

But unfortunately, the doors of these businesses were all wide open, and the contents inside had long since disappeared. It seemed Shawn wasn't the only one who had thought of this.

He found some strong liquor and unopened cigarettes in the bar. By the time Shawn walked out of the bar, the entire town had fallen into darkness.

Aside from the occasional low growls of Walkers in his ears, almost no other sound could be heard.

Shawn parked the car, found a decent-looking house, and after dealing with its owner, he moved right in.

"There's even gas?"

Shawn fiddled with the showerhead a few times, and after about a minute, hot water continuously flowed out.

Taking off his clothes and folding them neatly aside, Shawn took out some strong liquor from his system backpack, took a sip, and comfortably lay down in the bathtub.

"Modern smart facilities, they're one less each time you use them~~"

Shawn's tone was quite emotion.

In fact, he and Rick weren't that different; both were only just facing the apocalypse.

If the system hadn't existed, Shawn couldn't imagine what he would have become.

Even knowing some of the future plot, he probably wouldn't have had a very smooth time, right?

He casually opened the system.

At this point, Shawn was already Lv10, with 1 skill point available.

However, Shawn temporarily did not intend to use it.

Later on, Strength attribute upgrades would require at least 2 points, and at the highest levels, it would even take 3 skill points to upgrade once.

"I'll save them, save them, save them…"

Having not slept for a night and a day, and having killed several waves of Walkers, waves of drowsiness began to surge from the depths of his consciousness, completely engulfing Shawn.

Before he could finish speaking, he had already fallen into a deep sleep in the warm bathtub.
