Chapter 1 - Rise, Gundam!

UC 0079, Side 7

Side 7 is under attack.

It is a harrowing reminder for Noa Bright to hurry towards the main bridge and take command as fast as possible. The initial attack, the enemy's preemptive strike, has crippled all defense forces in the colony. Soldiers, vehicles and defense installations were annihilated at the first volley alone. Even the captain was taken out, heavily injured to take command, leaving him to take charge in this disaster.

A testament of the strength of four Zaku units currently razing the colony asunder and destroying what's left of the project V.

Project V is the main reason as to why Bright and the rest of the crew of the White base, a new Carrier class battleship, arrived in Side 7 which is a neutral colony. The project itself is a secret research and development of weapons, Mobile Suits.

In the battle of Loum, space warfare has been irrevocably changed with the appearance of Mobile Suits. A weapon of mass destruction and has been a backbone of Zeon supremacy since the beginning of the war against them. As such, the Federation has been scrambling to make their own Mobile Suits to even the fields.

The result is Project V.

And yet, Zeon is once again a step ahead of them. They had found Project V and are now destroying the federation's hope in this war!

"Get the comms online! Secure the hangars and prepare for launch!" Bright ordered once he found himself on the bridge, giving orders to the crew manning it or what's left of it.

Immediately, they began work in shambles yet efficiently.

"All hangars are secure. Refugees are secured and safe for transport!"

"Comms are on! Minovsky Particles are on high levels. Radio contact is secured!"

"Launch bay is still functional for launch. We're on standby!"

"Good. Relay information to the entire ship, we're bailing out with everything we have right now." Bright said as he took his seat on the commander's chair.

"But sir? We still have most of Project V Hardware in the colony, we can't leave them behind!" One of the officers questioned his order.

"I know but we can't recover those same hardware, not with those Zaku units running rampant on the surface. As much as I hate it, we have to take our losses and bail out. The data of Project V is already ours and we can simply replace what's lost here. It's the data we need to secure and deliver to the Federation!"

It's the only way they can win. With the exposure of project V, they can do nothing but leave behind the rest and escape with the Project V data for the federation. Abandoning the rest wouldn't go unnoticed by the Zeon attackers and would probably recover the wreckage of the destroyed Project V but if given enough time, they can secure and send the data back to Earth Federation in safety.

Now if only they can safeguard the civilians.

"Ensign Bright! We're being hailed! Morse code! Unknown origins!"

What? Someone is contacting them at this time!

"Zeon?"

"No! They're using outdated Morse code. Old Federation standards!"

That's a relief. If it was Zeon then it's a trap surely. But who would still be using old Morse codes at this time? Earth Federation Morse codes have been changed and updated since they share the same standards as Zeon.

"Translate it now!"

"Captain! Project V Gundam is moving? Someone's piloting it!"

"What!?" It's just one thing after another for Bright. First an unknown communication and now an unknown pilot taking one of the experimental units for a ride!

"Get me a connection to the Mobile Suit!" He ordered immediately. If possible, securing one of the remaining Mobile Suits is a must!

"Sir! We have translated the code! It's a warning! Zeon. Musai. Ambush."

Bright curses, slamming a fist on the arm rest. They're trapped. With Zaku units on their heels and a Musai class ship waiting outside, they're literally stuck between a hammer and an anvil!

"Communications established! We got a line with the Mobile Suit!"

Relief came to Bright. With communications up, there's still a chance to recover from their losses but only if the pilot cooperates with them!

Yet the moment the comms went on, the sound of gunfire, explosion and child's voice came through.

Oh no!

"Pilot! Identify yourselves!" Bright wishes his gut is wrong.

"Ugghn! Who's this?!" It is a child!

"This is the Whitebase and you're piloting one of our MS unauthorized! Identify yourself!" Bright replied. More gunfire and explosions came through the comms and the child screamed in pain, he was hurt.

"Me? I'm...ughnn...Amuro Ray!"

Ray?! Tem Ray's son!

"Locate Doctor Ray immediately!" Bright commands in the command bridge. If the boy's piloting the MS, then the likelihood of something had happened to the man who is head of the project.

"Amuro? Do you hear me!?"

"Ughnnn! Yes!" Good, he's still responsive.

"Amuro, tell me what's happening on the surface right now! We know there's four Zaku units running amok but don't know the details. Where are they right now?!" He asks the boy, trying to get a sitrep of the surface.

"Ugh! They're here with me! I'm fighting them but they're too many- Ugh!!!" A loud explosion echoed in the background.

He was hit!

The boy needs help!

Bright is torn, divided on two choices.

First choice is to abandon the Gundam, leaving the child to slow down the four MS behind while the Whitebase escapes and take their chance against the Musai ship waiting outside the colony. It would be a low chance of escape but far preferable without the Zaku units hounding them.

The second choice is to assist the boy, aka risking the ship and its crew against four Zaku units. Bright knew the risk of such a task and the reputation the Zaku has made for themselves, they're ship killers when unattended. But if they successfully assist the boy, they can retrieve the experimental MS and use it against the Musai ship.

Bright can't decide. The crew or the child? There's too many risks and what ifs? He isn't supposed to be the captain yet here he is!

What to do!?

"Sir, new Morse codes incoming from the unknown!" What?

"They say; Sending Help, standby!"

What?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Aaaughhh!!!" Amuro Ray screamed as he found himself being thrown to the ground, taking a hit from a Zaku Bazooka, charring one of the Gundam's arms when he tried blocking it.
With blood pouring down from his forehead, he glared at the units standing not far from him. His grip on the controls tightened in anger and frustration. Anger at the once who killed so many people. Frustration at his helplessness despite successfully piloting the Gundam. The four Zaku units have been ganging him up, not letting him have any chance to fight back or retreat. They're dismantling the Gundam bit by bit with weapons and physical attacks, it wouldn't be long till the Gundam is destroyed.
Amuro can't help but feel foolish at his decision. Why did he even think that he could take a real soldier or an MS pilot? He's just a child, talented or not, he's still a kid!
Yet that doesn't quell burning rage deep within his heart.
He has to act, he has to do this.
But as the lead Zaku points it's Bazooka on him, Amuro already knows it's the end of the line.
...
Then out of nowhere, beams struck the Zaku, melting and destroying the unit altogether before it exploded into a shower of fire and debris.
Amuro looked in shock, mirrored by the remaining three units who looked up at the origin of the attack.
Up in the sky, a blue MS made its pass before turning around to go for another run.
Almost immediately, the rest of the Zaku units scatter in alarm and readiness. It's the very first time they encounter a Federation MS but never would they think they would encounter an atmospheric flight capable unit! It's unprecedented! How could the federation advance too much before Zeon?!
Yet these three are still Veterans, they scattered themselves, allowing free movement and reducing getting blitzed together. That beam weaponry was powerful and had a wide hit range, taking out the first Zaku in one volley.
Together, they return fire at the unknown interloper.
In the sky, the Blue unit banked itself to dodge the incoming counterattack. Bullet rounds and rocket propelled explosives littered the atmosphere, hitting nothing or prematurely exploding. Yet this blanket fire is no joke, the unknown unit took glancing shots and some minor damages as they made a pass, firing its beam weapons. Now prepared, the targeted Zaku dodged easily and began firing at the units back as it passed.
The unknown unit's flight pack sparks before exploding as the Zaku's machine gun found its mark, sending the unknown unit crashing into the ground. It came down with a mighty crash, creating a deep trench as it skid across the ground before stopping. To add insult to injury, Bazooka rounds flew to the downed MS and turned it into scrap in an fiery explosion.
The three Zaku units stared at the burning wreckage before relaxing. Thanks to their coordination and experience, they took down that unit without losing more.
Then a volley of Beam projectiles rained on them, taking out one by melting the cockpit of the Zaku and destroying an arm on another. Surprised and alarmed at the sudden attack, they found an incoming trio of MS of unknown design.
More Federation MS!
The last two remaining Zaku panicked, one crippled with one arm and the other losing their cool at the back to back encounter. The injured Zaku stood its ground, taking a knee and firing at the incoming MS with its Machine Gun, taking a last stand. The other unit wasn't too keen on the idea of taking on the three enemy units with only the two of them so it began to retreat, abandoning the damaged Zaku.
What it didn't take into account is the Gundam lying in wait.
While the fight was ongoing, Amuro was able to recover. His machine damaged yet still functional, the burning rage in his heart fueling his desire for violence. The moment he was given reprieve by the newly arrived support, he was able to push the Gundam to its feet.
"Stand up! Wake up, Gundam!" He urged the machine faster, watching as the fight escalated further.
The damaged Zaku took one of the trio, a lucky shot destroying the MS unit with a concentrated fire on its torso housing its primary components. Meanwhile, the other two interlopers returned the gesture by dismantling the damaged Zaku despite their bad aim.
Meanwhile, the other one began to retreat.
Amuro can't let that happen.
With a groan of metal and huff of hot air, the Gundam stood up, damaged yet standing strong still. Gripping the controls tighter than before, Amuro began to pursue the fleeing Zaku. Thunderous footsteps echo as the Gundam chases after the Zaku with astonishing speed for an MS. The Zaku had only time to look behind to see the Gundam right on its tail. Panicking, Zaku's pilot leapt to fire off its thrusters to escape but it's the chance the Gundam needed.
"I got you!" Amuro yelled as the Gundam leaped forward, pulling out a Beam Saber on its back and slashing the Zaku midair, bisecting the poor MS in two pieces.
But it was an error made by Amuro for he had sliced through the Zaku's nuclear reactor, causing a massive explosion, enveloping the Gundam and causing breach on the colony.
An event that would lead to very serious consequences.
Seeing that all enemy units had been neutralized, the foreign MS units began to retreat to disappear from the scene.
But not before giving the Gundam one last look.
Timeline restored
I blinked my non-existent eyes in surprise at the sudden prompt from the World System. So I was right, the breach and Tem Ray's accident was a root event of the timeline, not the sudden appearance of four Zaku units instead of the usual two.
To think a difference of number would cause a timeline to collapse on its own, the multiverse is really something. One moment it's calm before the storm, the next moment, you're up in shit creek.
Opening the Hangar Bays, I welcomed the return of remaining Tornado Gundams. It's a shame I lost the Phoenix Zero and a Tornado Gundam in the exchange but it's worth it. The timeline is fixed and my job was done in the timeline.
But it doesn't mean I can't do a little trolling.
That child predator Char needs a goddamn smack for this shit and I am more than willing to do it.
Adjusting the Carry Base's position, I began to lock-in the Musai ship's current location. At the moment, the Zeon ship hasn't detected me with all the Minovsky particles blanketing the area, making it a radar deadzone for them but not for me. I had visuals on their ship while they didn't.
If I had lips, I would be grinning like a certain Estate Developer!
Arming my missiles, I sent another round of Morse codes to the Whitebase.
Out. Fireworks. Enjoy.
With that, I let loose my armed missiles and began to hastily escape. I don't need to turn around to see the Musai suffer heavy damage, crippling the ship, just as the Gundam and the Whitebase emerged from the colony.
My job here is done.
