Bella's POV
I positioned myself across from the investor, my fingers wrapped tightly around my pen, the weight of weeks of preparation pressing down on my shoulders. This meeting was supposed to be the culmination of everything I had worked toward. My stomach had been churning since dawn, but now, finally, success seemed within reach.
The distinguished gentleman mirrored my posture, his own pen poised above the signature line. After endless negotiations and revisions, we had reached this moment. I allowed myself a small breath of relief as I watched him lean forward, ready to make our partnership official.
Then his secretary burst through the conference room doors.
She moved with urgent precision, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she rushed to his side. Bending low, she cupped her hand around his ear, whispering words I could not hear but desperately wanted to know.
