Silas's POV
The phone rang just as I was reviewing another stack of pointless reports. When I saw the tech company's number flash across the screen, my entire body went rigid.
"Mr. VALERIUS'Empire, we have good news about the device restoration," the technician's voice came through crisp and professional.
My grip tightened on the phone. "Tell me."
"We successfully recovered all the data. What specific information would you like us to send over first?"
"Contact list. Everything. Send it now." The words came out sharper than I intended, but I was past caring about pleasantries.
"Of course, sir. You'll have it within minutes."
The line went dead, leaving me staring at the ceiling of my office. It had been far too long of this maddening uncertainty, this woman lying unconscious while her son became more familiar to me than my own reflection.
Because that kid looked exactly like me.
