Chapter 4 - Delivery And Come Back

"Fuck my life, why did I have to be born as an omega?"

I looked at Alex, who was lying on his bed—covered in his sheet and looking at a small bottle in his hand.

Pheromone suppressant.

People either gain their subgender at birth or after they pass the age of puberty.

Alex was born as an omega, and all omegas had to go through this cycle of heat once a month.

Different people had different ways to go through with this. Some omegas surrendered to the heat and engaged in whatever followed, but I wasn't sure of the specifics.

But Alex took a suppressant, but he still had to suffer from the side effects, if that was what they were called.

This was the only time of the month I was grateful for being a defective alpha. No, exactly, I really should be happy because even alphas had their own cycle too.

Anyway, Alex was sick because of his heat and would be for a few days. As for the work, he had no choice but to stop. That was also a good thing about drug deliveries.

Oh, I hadn't done anything for the past few days, exactly after that incident. Because Alex thought it would be good if I lay low until that woman forgot about me. No matter how frustrated I became after sitting inside the room, he never let me do it—even nagged me for a long time.

I chuckled after seeing Alex's twisted face after he drank the liquid. He glared at me, but I quickly passed him a water bottle.

It was already late morning, but since Alex was sick and I rarely go out, none of us had left their bed yet.

Why did someone go outside? Because if they had to work or if they had to meet someone, like friends or relatives. But we had neither.

"Damn it, we can't cancel this order."

I was lying on my bed with a phone in my hand, but as I heard these words, I suddenly became excited and quickly turned my head to look at Alex.

He was barely opening his eyes and lazily looking at his phone. His face was all red because of the fever. Meaning he was in no condition to go out and—

"I'll go."

I quickly sat straight on the bed and raised a hand with confidence, but...

What was with the question mark? It was clearly written on his face. Why couldn't he trust me a little? I already know the answer to that.

"As if."

I knew it wasn't going to be this easy, but it still made my body freeze. Alex was a calculated person, and since it was something important, he would allow me to do that rather than leaving it as it would be.

But what was he doing here?

I quickly got up from the bed, and this time I said it in a serious and more confident manner.

"Look, I have done it before, and it's just deliver and come back—there wouldn't be a problem."

"Still no. You got caught last time, and it is not simple. It takes you forever to deliver and just come back."

No, that wasn't true. I may not be good, but I did everything fine until that last time... probably.

I pouted at Alex's unreasonable comment.

"The owner of the casino is a big woman. She couldn't possibly remember me until now. I think she has already forgotten about me—no, she might not have known that I exist. It was a week ago, and I am not even going near that casino, ever."

I was sure about never going near that casino, but except for that, I wasn't really sure. But Alex didn't need to know that.

This went on for a very long time, and no matter what Alex had said, I kept pestering him. Even when he tried to fake his sleep or just simply ignore me, I didn't back down until finally, he gave in.

"Fine, then just deliver and come right back. Don't go anywhere else, and don't do anything stupid either."

If I were to meet that woman now, I would admit that I was cursed—otherwise, a single person couldn't have that much bad luck.

With that thought in mind, I straightened my posture and tried to appear as confident as possible.

"Yes, leave it to me."

Alex frowned his brows before turning his head away from me and starting to mumble something—which I thought would be cursing—before he lazily covered his head with the sheet.

This was possibly to stop me or maybe to just make me reconsider. But I was really bored and just wanted to do something productive, but more than that, I felt stupid every time I saw Alex doing everything while I lazed around.

I was now an adult, and I needed to stand on my own ground. Besides, I survived before, didn't I? That gave me some confidence.

I quickly got up from the bed and headed inside the bathroom. It had been days since I went outside, so I hadn't taken a shower for a while.

When I came out of the bathroom, I didn't know when, but I started to hum that only song I knew before and started to get ready.

I didn't have many clothes, and most of the clothes I had were baggy pants and some loose t-shirts. After choosing a pair, I put a hoodie over it.

After I got ready, I looked at myself in the mirror.

My short red hair touched my shoulders, and my overgrown bangs covered my eyes, making it difficult for others to see my face clearly. And on top of that—

I picked up a pair of round, nonprescription glasses and covered half of my face with a face mask.

After checking everything was alright, I went out.

The location of the delivery was a club this time. And in this kind of work one had to blend in to avoid any attraction. So I was going to enjoy myself with some alcohol but leave soon after to avoid nagging from Alex.

I didn't enjoy losing myself while dancing wildly or drinking to the point of losing my grip on reality. No, I needed to do the minimum to avoid future trouble. Who would they suspect if something happened inside the club? Obviously, the one who came to the club but left without doing these kinds of things.

When I reached the location, there was a club in front of me, and outside the club, there was a long line at the entrance.

Deliver and just come back? That was true, but I missed almost all other steps.

I sighed heavily and looked around, but except for women with few clothes or people with money, everyone had to pass through that big line, and after a long time it was finally my turn. I took out my ID card and was allowed to enter. The guards didn't bother to check my face, as there was a long line behind me.

It was the weekend night, so the club was packed with people. The noise of the loud music was like my own heartbeat, as if in sync. As I looked around, I saw many alluring bodies swaying with the music, and the light was dazzling.

I was entranced by the atmosphere of the club, as I always was, but quickly snapped out of it, as the warning from Alex rang loudly in my ears. Sure, I had to enjoy myself, but that comes after I finished the job, as a professional should have.

I went to the bar where the destination of my delivery was and sat down on one of the stools. It was important to have few movements and have most of the focus on the alcohol or naked bodies.

So, I looked around at all those people while secretly checking the bartenders' names, and after I saw the one I needed come closer to me, I called out loud.

"One way to Autumn." I raised my hand and ordered confidentiality like I was a regular. The drink I ordered didn't exist, obviously, but was actually a code that was given by the client.

The bartender nodded and handed me a glass of beer with a slice of lime.

The whole time I had my eyes on a group with one woman being trapped by two men as they were groping her body underneath her clothes.

No, I didn't want to see all that, as it gave me a boner—it was hard to tell if it was because of the woman or the men.

Now, it would start to make a lot of sense to have only the baggy pants, right?

I took the drink and took a sip. It was the same drink I had every time and possibly the only drink I knew the taste of, but I still nodded in satisfaction.

Only then did I place the bill on the counter and hide inside it a packet of the drug.

I again turned my head to the group while the bartender took the bill, and after a while, he left.

I smiled and finished the remaining drink. Now, it was time to blend with these people.
