Chapter 5 - Chapter five- Trust

Nicolas

The walk was silent as Neil thinks about something I'd doubt, he'd tell me. Though his face gives away, nothing I can hear is heart beating wildly. I snap into reality as the chamber doors slam shut behind me, and it locks quickly. "Neil what are you-" he kisses me and I pull back at once.

Why did he do that? What does that mean? I stare at Neil, and he stares at me with a slight trace of hurt flaring in his eyes. The thought of him doing that hurts me, I take a step towards him, "I'm a demon Neil. You think anything good can come out of this? Do you think that you can change that fact?"

"I trust you; please can you trust me with my choice? Didn't you agree with this marriage? Please tell me this means something to you!" His voice is becoming increasingly painful. It breaks me.

"I trust you, though what is happening is not to my knowledge"

"It doesn't have to be. Just trust me, will you?" I nod as he kisses me again and this time I don't turn away, I wait as the kiss turns urgent and Neil's tongue slips into my mouth and my mind goes blank.

Neil laughs a breathless laugh, and I pull back frowning, "What is it?"

"You-you are such a good kisser, yet you have no idea what the fuck you are doing?"

"I hate you" with his eyes sparking and he kisses me again.

"Are you know? Let's test that out then"

With that. Somethings are better left unsaid, yet the lingering touch left was very much in my own head.

I woke up to Neil, getting up slowly as if he wouldn't wake me up even with my sensitive hearing. "Neil?"

"Sleep my lovely"

"I'm awake though"

"Okay, just rest, I'll get you some food" I nodded into the pillow, and I fell asleep again and Neil now dawning his prince outfit leaves and I get up rolling out of the bed and changing into joggers and a hoodie. Jenna is at school so there is no need to be a father figure, even if she is learning in the castle.

I wish I had a shred of dignity, which I don't, I go into the office and rummage around until I find Neil's diary, perfect. This will be handy as there could be things he is hiding. I cleaned up the office before opening the diary and reading it. While making a list:

Things I know about Neil:

He has been second in line for the throne, and he killed his brother for the crown since he was abusing his role as a prince.

He followed me when I was beginning my police career and making sure, I was treated right.

He seen me with Jenna and made sure that she recognized him so he could get me to stay with him.

He wanted to make me happy though I was busy with Anton and he got upset about it, so he sent the hunter Ash to get us separated but, in the end, it never worked as planned.

Then Neil walks in holding a tray with food on it with a smiling face "What are you doing? Taking notes? What for" then he spots his diary in my hands "My diary? My lovely? Haven't you learned my intentions from last night? Did you change your mind again?"

"I am reading and yes I have, I've learnt your intentions, so that is why I am staying"

Neil sighs and puts the tray in front of me, pouring two cups of tea. Muttering to himself as if I couldn't hear.

"Stop doubting me, will ya?" I whisper into his ear as he hands me a cup of tea.

"You have a survey to fill out about…us yet some of it we're new to, so you might not know everything" with that he hands me a pile of papers. Damn, I picked up an apple from the tray.

"Leave it to me"

The survey was simple:

Who was the one that confessed first?

Neil

What is your favorite thing about your lover?

His personality

What makes you like to be with him?

His attitude

That was the first three questions and then it got very…not family friendly so in short. I burned it. All of it, much to Neil's upset. I then go to bed, climbing in while Neil has a talk with Jenna about the thoughts of the courts.
