Chapter 103 - Chapter 102 – Masks and Contracts

POV: Jay

Two weeks passed.

Today was the day.

The day Kaizer Watson wanted to "reclaim what was his."

I sat inside my car with Hex.

We were already in costume.

Black tactical outfits.

Gloves.

Masks.

Hex adjusted his voice modulator. When he spoke, his voice came out deeper. Mechanical. Almost metallic.

"Ready?"

His normal voice was gone.

Replaced with something colder.

In the backseat sat Hannah and Carlos.

Masked too.

No faces.

No identities.

Just Byte JC.

After a few minutes, someone knocked on the window.

"Boss Kaizer said follow him."

We started the engine and followed Kaizer's car.

Where did he lead us?

To Keifer's house.

My jaw tightened under my mask.

Hex leaned closer slightly.

"Remember," he said through the voice changer, distorted and steady, "we don't know them."

I nodded.

"Of course," I replied, my voice completely different. I had shifted my accent, sharper, smoother, unrecognizable.

We stepped out when Kaizer did.

He had his assistant Dylan and several armed men.

Kaizer looked pleased with himself.

"Ready?" he asked.

I nodded once.

He didn't knock.

Didn't wait.

He just walked in like he owned the place.

We followed.

Inside.

Kaizer sat on the couch like a king returning to his throne.

Aunty Serina and Uncle Victor came down the stairs.

Serina's face hardened instantly.

"Kaizer. What are you doing here?"

Keifer came down after them.

The moment I saw him, something inside me sharpened.

He looked calm.

But when he saw Kaizer—

His jaw clenched.

Kaizer smiled.

"Nice to meet you too."

Serina stepped forward.

"No matter what you do, you will never get this company."

Kaizer stood.

Walked to Uncle Victor.

"You left me. Kaizer Watson. For this man?"

Uncle Victor didn't even blink.

Kaizer turned to Keifer.

"Wow, son. You've grown taller."

Keifer pushed him back slightly.

"I'm not your son."

Kaizer's men immediately raised their guns.

One of them pointed directly at Keifer.

My blood ran cold.

Hannah whispered behind me.

"Luna Byte… do something."

I didn't hesitate.

I grabbed the fork from the dining table.

And threw it.

It struck the man's hand.

He screamed, dropping his gun.

"Drop your guns," I said calmly.

The room went still.

They looked at Kaizer.

He nodded.

The guns lowered.

I stepped forward slowly.

"Well, Kaizer. It's nice seeing your family reunion. But you should never allow your men to point guns at your son."

I walked to the man I hit.

Kicked his leg out.

He fell.

I stepped on his hand.

He screamed again.

"HR. Take him away."

Hannah and Carlos dragged him outside.

I turned to Keifer.

He looked at me.

No fear.

Just annoyance.

I lifted his chin gently to study his face.

He moved away from my grip immediately.

Fine.

I walked back and sat.

Then looked at Kaizer.

"Your son is handsome. I'll take him too."

Kaizer chuckled.

"No problem."

Serina snapped, "Who are you people?"

Kaizer smirked.

"My manners. This is Luna Byte. And that over there is Night Byte. Owners of Byte JC."

Hex walked over and sat beside me.

Keifer snapped, "I don't care who they are. Just leave our house."

I stood again.

Walked to him.

Grabbed his hand.

Tried pulling him.

He stayed stiff.

I pulled a gun from my back.

"Move."

He didn't.

So I fired.

One inch from his leg.

The bullet hit the floor.

He flinched and stepped back.

I dragged him to the couch and made him sit.

Placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Your son is my type."

He immediately shrugged my hand off.

"Well, you are not my type."

For a second, I almost smiled under my mask.

Kaizer cleared his throat.

"Luna Byte. Business?"

Hex leaned back lazily.

"Can't you see she's busy?"

"It's fine," I said smoothly. "Let's proceed."

Uncle Victor asked, "What business?"

Kaizer laughed.

"You'll see."

I turned to him.

"So. You want everything because you worked for it?"

"Yes."

"That's a lie!" Serina shouted.

I glanced at her. Then back at him.

"This will involve court."

Kaizer scoffed. "Is that the only way?"

Keifer cut in. "Why? Scared? You lost last time."

I tilted my head toward Keifer.

"Oh baby, why are you angry?"

"I'm not your baby."

I faced Kaizer.

"No problem. I had my lawyer prepare documents already. Just sign."

Hannah and Carlos returned.

"CG. Documents."

Carlos handed them to me.

"I've read everything," I said. "You may read again if you wish."

Kaizer waved it off.

"If you've read it, no problem."

Inside my head:

Fool.

He signed without reading.

Gave it back.

Then laughed.

"Well Watson, pack your things and leave."

Carlos stepped forward.

"I think you should leave, Kaizer."

"How dare you, worker—"

Hannah cut in calmly.

"The contract clearly states you have no rights over Mrs. Serina's company, properties, or family."

Kaizer's smile dropped.

He turned to me.

"What is this?"

Hex stood slowly.

His modulated voice dropped lower.

"What made you think we would help you? Did you believe we don't investigate?"

Kaizer stuttered.

"Luna Byte said she would help me get the Watson company!"

"I said I would help you," I replied coolly. "And come with you to the Watson house."

Hex stepped closer to Kaizer.

"Oh Kaizer… the only thing more dangerous than an enemy is a fool who signs contracts he doesn't read."

He leaned in slightly.

"Never gamble with wolves when you can't read the rules of the forest."

Kaizer's face turned red.

Dylan suddenly grabbed Hex.

"Let me go," Hex said calmly.

Dylan laughed.

"What are you going to do, kid?"

He tapped Hex's mask.

Big mistake.

Hex went still.

Very still.

He dropped his weight suddenly.

Dylan lost balance.

Hex twisted, punched him in the stomach.

Jump kicked him in the face.

Dylan fell hard.

The men stepped back.

Hex walked over and kicked Dylan again.

"Don't. Ever. Call me kid."

He sat on Dylan's back.

"Anyone else?"

Kaizer shouted, "How dare you lie to me!"

"I only help the good," I replied.

"You'll pay!"

His men raised guns again.

Hex stood.

"If I were you… I wouldn't shoot."

He turned to Serina and Victor.

"Please sit."

They obeyed instinctively.

I casually rested my head on Keifer's lap.

He froze.

Hex looked at the men.

"By the count of five. Drop your guns and walk out."

Kaizer sneered. "I like your courage, ki—"

"Continue that word," Hex said softly.

"…Boy. I was going to say boy."

Hex's voice turned ice cold.

"1."

The room shifted.

"2."

Colder.

The men hesitated.

"3… 4."

Two kunai flew.

Landing an inch from two men's faces.

Hex began spinning another kunai on his finger.

"5."

Three men dropped their guns and ran.

"Cowards!" Kaizer yelled.

"I think they're smart," Hex replied.

"Two more," I said lazily.

"6."

The remaining two dropped their guns.

"7."

"We can't do this!" they muttered before running out.

Hex laughed softly.

Walked to the table.

Poured water.

Splashed it on Dylan.

"Wake up. Go with your boss."

Dylan stumbled up.

Kaizer glared at us.

"This isn't over."

Hex tilted his head.

"It was over the moment you signed."

They left.

Silence filled the house.

Serina stepped forward.

"Thank you… Miss Luna."

I stood and removed my head from Keifer's lap.

"Please. Just Luna."

"What can I give you in return?"

I glanced at Keifer.

"How about your son?"

"No way," Keifer snapped. "And never touch me, call me baby, or lie on my lap again."

He stormed upstairs.

I watched him go.

Then turned back.

"It's fine. I'll still stick with your son."

"See you soon," Uncle Victor said. "Night Byte… impressive skills."

Hex high-fived him.

We walked out.

Masks still on.

Identities safe.

No one knew.

Not Serina.

Not Victor.

Not Keifer.

Only Nathan.

And Carlos.

As we drove away, I stared ahead.

They pointed a gun at him.

At his family.

Never again.

No one touches my family.

And no one touches his.

Not while I'm breathing.
