Chapter 3 - CH 3

Pacing back and forth, nervousness was creeping over me, my heart palpitated, the thought of Luo Si and his group of minions terrorising me, I shuddered at the thought.

The problem was that today was the last day. I needed to be recorded in to be able to attend the ceremony—or awaken.

My teeth started grinding against each other. Before I finally steeled myself.

I slid the door open as slowly as I could, hoping that fewer people would notice me

I tiptoed into the room keeping my vision planted to the ground.

Without looking I could feel their eyes on me i could hear the voices the whispers of everyone around me— no doubt talking about me.

Strolling through the pile of desks surrounding me I found my desk settling down into my chair.

Teacher Wang stared at me with open disgust before opening his mouth

"Sorry for the interruption "

I felt my face turn cold, I shrank down further in my seat

"Continuing" he turned back to the class " As you all know, later today, you will undergo the ceremony."

The room fell silent, filled with the prospects of those words.

"Some of you may awaken. Some of you might not. Those who do will be tasked with protecting humanity at its front lines against the savage beasts that have invaded our world"

His voice hardened, filled with experience.

" Don't feel pity for these beasts one hundred years ago, they pushed through the world boundary and tried to annex our world."

A few students seem to stiffen under his firm voice.

"Even though we have pushed them back to the edge of the world, don't let it fool you. Just because you haven't seen them in action doesn't mean they aren't cruel they will kill you if they get the chance, so don't feel sorry for them. "

" And do the same "

Those words seemed to reverberate around the room, bringing a sense of horror to the students.

Seemingly achieving his goal teacher Wang allowed himself a thin smile.

With his back turned to us walking to the door, he voiced out once again.

" Form is now over. Spend the rest of the day around campus—go where you want. Relax." He paused "I'll see you after school. "

With that he walked out, leaving the door wide open—as if enticing us to leave.

A majority of students including me were left surprised staring at the open door zoning out at the prospects of what teacher Wang said the fear and expectation surrounding seemed to be eating everyone alive

Thinking to myself I felt awfully conflicted.

Is this the path to a new, better lifeor am I just putting myself through danger ?

My life isn great, but I'm surviving.

And the future will probably stay the same.

Before I had any time to mull over it any longer, a sudden blunt pain exploded on my temple I was sent crashing to the floor blood oozing down the side of my head.

A sudden boisterous laughter filled the room.

A squeaky rat-like voice cut through the laugh.

" Bullseye, Brother Si! He didn't even see it coming! "

Another voice came close behind—gruff but still equally as excited.

" Look at the loser. Lying across the floor looking like an idiot bet he still doesn't know what hit him "

I clenched my fist as hard as i could, my jaw following along.

I HATE THEM I HATE THEM SO MUCH!!

My pupils dilated,my vision bleeding red around the edges.

I hate that fat bastard Wang Lei

That skinny rat faced suck-up Shu Lian

They aren't the real problem though.

Everything traces back to Luo Si if it wasn't for him they wouldn't do anything, he enables them, rewards them, protects them!

If it weren't for him they wouldn't have the gall to lay a finger on anyone!.

They wouldn't dare to lay a finger on ME!.

I would never voice this out.

Unless i'd what to get beaten half to death of course.
