(Pov Satoshi)
It was a rather average day in June when things began rolling. The new year had started, and Megumi had finally joined the school. I had seen him a few times, but for the most part, he and his sister lived separately and attended a normal school. He was a good student, honestly. He was the smartest one currently at the Tokyo school, but he couldn't break through his own mentality regarding his technique and was holding himself back.
Megumi had been sent on a mission to a high school in Sendai to check up on a rumored cursed object on school grounds. This object was one of Sukuna's fingers, and soon enough it would be unwrapped by the school's occult club members, and in an attempt to save his friend's first year student, Itadori Yuji will eat the finger, and Sukuna will incarnate in his body.
Given I was in charge of the first years I was around for this mission instead of Satoru, meaning I would be the first one outside of Megumi to see the reincarnated Sukuna in person. I couldn't lie, I was kind of excited, sure he was pretty evil and wouldn't hesitate to try and kill me, but I'd have to fight him someday anyway.
It was later that night when I received a call from Megumi. "Hey, it's not here." He said, clearly agitated. Despite Satoru having taken more of the role in raising Megumi, I still spent quite a bit of time around him, partly because I wanted Maki and Mai to have a better relationship with their cousin.
"Huh, what do you mean gone?" I ask feigning ignorance.
"I mean, it's not here." He responds with an exasperated tone.
"That sounds like an issue, then. Do you need me to come get you?" I ask, I had already been planning this, I just needed to take the train, and I'd be there just in time. He didn't respond, just hanging up, so I put my phone away and got on the train to get to Sendai.
It took about an hour, but I finally managed to arrive in Sendai and began making my way towards the high school Megumi had been sent to. As I arrived, I could see the end of the fight against the curse that had attacked the remaining students, although it was just a glimpse before it was torn apart by slashes. I could see Yuji now being controlled by Sukuna, standing on the edge of the roof.
"Women and children are crawling everywhere like maggots! How marvelous! It'll be a massacre hahaha!"
Yeah, that's him, alright, I should get up there before Megumi actually summons Mahoraga. I decided to take the quick way up, climbing the side of the school and vaulting onto the roof. When I got up there, I saw the now back in control Yuji talking with Megumi, who had his hands in a rather familiar position.
"Hey Megumi, what's up?" I ask, breaking the tension. Both of them look at me like I have a second head.
"Satoshi-Sensei, he ate one of Sukuna's fingers, and it incarnated," Megumi said. "He claims he can control Sukuna, but I'm not sure."
"Control him, huh? Well, can you?" I ask Yuji, even if I know the answer already i do have appearances to keep up.
"Yeah, is that weird or something?" Yuji said in response, and now it was time for a test.
"Can you let him back out for a bit? I want to see this guy." I said, beginning to stretch and limber up, I don't want to pull anything. Am I old?
"Are you sure it isn't strong?" Yuji asked
"Sure, but I'm stronger," I said with confidence. I had been doing some intense training after my injury at the hands of Kenjaku. I couldn't afford to get caught unaware like that again, but if I was, then I needed to have enough strength; it wouldn't matter. So I had been pushing my body as hard as possible to be as prepared as possible, and now it would be time to put that to use some of it anyways.
Yuji shrugged and relaxed before suddenly straightening back up. Below his regular eyes, two smaller ones opened up, and each one of them was filled with malice. He lifted a hand to push back the front of his hair before looking right at me. Unlike the anime and manga, he didn't have the tattoos, though from what I could remember, those were just for the audience anyway.
"So you're the teacher, then very well you shall be the first I kill," Sukuna said before charging forward, attempting to swipe at my face. I dodged to the side before grabbing his arm and flipping him over my shoulder. When he landed, his other fist came up for an uppercut, but I pushed him back.
He stumbled a little before running back in, jumping up, and trying to kick my head. I ducked under his foot and slammed him into the ground before holding him down.
"Alright, now try switching back," I said, and not long after, the small eyes closed, and Yuji's body relaxed. I got off of him and helped him back up. "You did well, I'm surprised. Now you'll feel a little pain." I said before giving him a quick bop, knocking him out, so we could transport him more easily.
This was it. While Yuta's showing up had been important, the true events of the story only began with Yuji eating the first finger; now things would get complicated. I had methods in mind to alter certain upcoming events, but it was still uncertain how things would happen now, given just what had already changed. No matter what, though, I wouldn't let my students suffer the same way that they would have in another world.
