Chapter 7 - Jujutsu High

(Pov Satoshi)

This past year has been one of the longest in my entire new life. Last year, Satoru started his first year at the Tokyo Jujutsu High, despite great protest from the clan elders who had wanted to keep his education within the clan. The issue with this was that since the age of about twelve, Satoru had just done whatever he wanted; his strength had progressed that far already. So at the age of fifteen, he joined the school, and at first, I was happy for him, not just because this was a major part of the story, but because he seemed really excited, which had become rarer in the clan's compound. Unfortunately, this meant that for long periods of time, I was left on my own in a clan that didn't want me around. It wasn't all bad. Uncle Toshino was still around. He had managed to become something like a father for me in this world, but he couldn't be there all the time, and when he wasn't there, and Satoru was at school, some of the other members let their true feelings be known.

I didn't care much because, despite what they said i knew I'd be strong enough for it not matter, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt on some level. They even sent me out on a few missions when I told them I'd be joining Satoru at the school, supposedly to prepare me, but I knew the real reason was that they had hoped some random curse would get me. I can't complain about that too much, as these were secret missions; they couldn't send me after anything higher than a grade 3, so really it was just an opportunity to get actual combat experience against something that wasn't holding back.

In the end all the effort in training had been worth it and I would finally be able to join Satoru at school and exorcise curses officially not to mention I'd have to keep an eye out for whenever the star plasma mission was issued though i'd still have some time because for some reason in Japan the school term starts in April and the mission won't happen until sometime in August.

I gave myself one final check in the mirror before it was time to leave. Satoru had already left to move his stuff back in before the year began, so I would be joining him today. The uniform had arrived; there wasn't much special about it, not yet, at least, it was a standard blue-black matching top and bottom. I had the same white hair and spiky hair as Satoru, but I kept mine a little longer. At my side I had the katana given to me by Satoru sheathed it had become my favorite weapon to use though it wasn't my only weapon available as it turns out the cursed tool Slaughter Demon had belonged to the Gojo clan and I had taken to using it as a back up leaving it in a sheath hanging on my lower back it had served well in the past and was small at least compared to the sword. Behind me, I had my bags packed, though they would be sent ahead and dropped off in my room, so there was only one more thing I needed to do before I left.

"Hey Uncle Toshi i'm about to head out, just wanted to say bye," I said. Uncle Toshino had gotten older now with more wrinkles, but he never let that get him down.

"Oh, Satoshi-Kun i'm going to miss having you here. How the time flies, huh? Remember to stay safe and don't be afraid to ask your brother for help, and remember you can always call me." he said, his voice tinged with sadness and pride. I could tell this was hard on him. I had been here long enough that more memories from my first life were being forgotten, but I could still remember that when I went off to college, my parents had the same look on their faces as Uncle Toshino. I couldn't help myself and reached out to pull him into a hug.

"I love you, Uncle Toshi. Thanks for watching over Satoru and me."

"Oh, you don't have to thank me for that, just do your best ok." We were both doing our best not to cry at this point, but in the end, I still had to go, so after finishing my goodbyes and sending my luggage along, I began my journey to the school.

(Pov Satoru)

"Hey, Satoru, why are we just waiting here? Won't Yaga-Sensei get mad if we're late already?" asked the dark-haired student to my right. He was Geto Suguru, another student here at Jujutsu High, and he'd quickly become my best friend alongside Ieri Shoko. They were the only other second years in the Tokyo school, so we became pretty close as a result.

"I told you, Suguru, we're waiting for someone very important, you know, a new student is joining, shouldn't we be good upper-classmen and greet them?" I had simply neglected to mention that this new first year would be my little brother's, mostly because I wanted to see their reactions when they realized it was him. I had mentioned him before, but only a few times, as he never really came up, so now it was time to check their memory.

Before long, a familiar figure started approaching from the staircase that led to the main campus. It didn't take him long to spot me, and before I knew it, he was running my way.

"Big bro, it's good to see you." Satoshi had grown over the years, though much to mine and Uncle Toshi's amusement, he was still shorter than me even after putting on some muscle.

"Hey, little bro, good to finally have you here. Come on, wouldn't want to be late on your first day, would you?" I couldn't help but tease him a little. Why have a brother if you're not going to mess with them at least a little? "Oh yeah, these are the two I told you about, meet your upperclassmen, Geto Suguru and Ieri Shoko. He controls cursed spirits, and she knows how to use reversed curse energy, pretty cool, huh?"

Suguru spoke up, "Satoru, should you really be exposing our abilities to someone else even if he is your brother?" He sounded annoyed, but I knew he didn't really mean it.

"It's nice to meet both of you. Big bro Satoru has told me a lot about you." Satoshi was being oddly polite, though to be fair, most of the other people he'd met were old clan geezers.

"Come on, you guys, I don't want to get yelled at again, so hurry up with the mushy stuff and let's go." And that was Shoko, even if she wasn't as strong as us, you'd never know it from how she acts.

With that, we began making our way towards the main building for our first day. I had a good feeling about this year, especially now that Satoshi was by my side.
