Chapter 2 - Rias Gremory

Before i became a Jujutsu Sorcerer i was kind of an otaku. I used to love watching anime and reading light novels. The girl in my hands right now is a girl I have watched and read about in the past. A petite girl with white hair and golden eyes, two long bangs going past her shoulders and several loose bangs hanging over her forehead, wearing a school uniform. Koneko Toujou one of the female protagonists of High School DxD. She looked at me with confused and questioning eyes. I put her down then fell into my own thoughts. Was I transported into another world? That's the most obvious answer to my current situation.

But how? It was unheard off that an innate domain changes your world and transport you into another universe. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I couldn't reach Nanami not because he changed phone numbers, but it was that he just doesn't exist in this universe. The unknown energy I felt from the monster, who i presume now is a stray devil, and the others is probably demonic power. I heard huge BANG! that woke me up from my thoughts. I looked at the battlefield, the young man, Kiba Yuuto was kneeling, his sword holding him straight, Koneko had rejoined the fight and she was trying to lure the stray away.

Then for the first time the stray spoke: "STOP RUNNING CAT GIRL" his voice was deep and hoarse, but layered—like several throats were trying to speak at once and failing to stay in sync. Even though Koneko wasn't in her Nekomata form the stay somehow sensed it. I was about to attack when i felt an invisible pressure hit the battlefield, i glanced left toward the presence and saw an angel.

Well not really... actually quite the opposite. It was a girl with long beautiful crimson hair that reaches down to her thighs. Her hair alongside her power of destruction made her known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess. Rias Gremory was even more stunning in real life then in the show. She shot me a look, then focused on the stray in front of her.

The Stray Immediately recognized her, and Prepared himself for battle. Rias looked at her peerage members and smiled: "You've done well. I'm proud of you". Then she raised her hand, crimson magic erupting outward in a condensed blast of pure demonic power, the Gremory's power of destruction. The air screamed as the stray devil was overwhelmed, its form tearing apart under the pressure before it could even react. The explosion illuminated the street in red for a brief second, then faded just as quickly—leaving nothing behind but scorched ground and the unmistakable weight of a high-class devil asserting absolute dominance. Rias lowered her hand calmly, her expression composed.

I was in disbelief, she was strong, incredibly strong. She was the strongest person i have ever seen, she's probably even stronger than Satoru Gojo. I looked at her stupefied, as she walked toward me gracefully. Akeno followed behind her, curiosity flickering in her eyes as she looked at me.

"I want to thank you sincerely for helping Koneko earlier" her voice was smooth and composed, carrying a natural warmth and charisma beneath its authority.

"No, It's only natural to help someone in danger" I answered casually.

"You didn't have to step in," she said calmly, her blue eyes meeting mine. "Yet you did—without hesitation."

She glanced briefly toward Koneko, confirming she was unharmed, before looking back at me.

"Koneko is precious to me. To my peerage. Saving her life is not something I can overlook."

Koneko then bowed slightly and said "Thank you" In her usual cold manner.

Rias then placed a hand over her chest in a formal devil's gesture.

"On behalf of the Gremory household… thank you. Whatever you are, and whatever brought you here, you have earned my gratitude—and my interest."

Wait did she know i wasn't from this universe? No it couldn't be. She probably sensed that i didn't have demonic power, but some other sort of energy and deduced something out of it, from her perspective I'm obviously not a normal human nor a devil or angel or fallen angel.

"No it's really fine, what was that creature anyway?" I already knew but i asked anyways.

"A stray devil," she confirmed. "A former reincarnated devil who lost control—or chose to abandon it. Without a master, they become unstable… violent."

Her gaze sharpened slightly as she looked back at me.

"Most people would have run. You didn't—and you recognized the danger immediately. You recognized that the devil was targeting Koneko and predicted that if the lightning bolt didn't kill him, he would go after her."

After a brief pause, she added, more measured than curious,

"You fought it like someone who's dealt with things far worse than an ordinary human ever should."

"Yes. I've dealt with things like that before—creatures that lose control and become nothing but instinct."

What should I do? I think it's best to tell her I'm not from this universe, there's no other way to explain my cursed energy. She is a clever girl, i cannot underestimate her and do things half-heartedly since I'm pretty sure it will come back to bite me in the ass later on. I have to think this through, If I want to find a way to go back to my world, I'm gonna need Rias's help and influence.

"You're right," I said evenly. "An ordinary human doesn't walk away in one piece from things like that."

I lifted your gaze to meet hers directly.

"Because I'm not ordinary. And I'm not from this universe."

Rias did not react immediately. No sharp intake of breath. No disbelief.

"Explain" she said.

"The power you're sensing from me isn't the power you used during the fight." I continued."It comes from a different system—one that exists in my world. I didn't arrive here by choice. I was pulled through during a mission when something went wrong."

Her eyes narrowed slightly. "That would explain why your energy feels… incompatible," she said slowly. "Like it's obeying rules I don't recognize."

I nodded.

"I'm telling you this because pretending otherwise would be pointless. You're perceptive, and eventually you'd reach the same conclusion." After a brief moment i added more firmly "I don't know how this world works yet. But it's obvious you're not just another devil handling strays. If I want to understand where I am—and whether returning is even possible—I need to deal with someone who actually has authority."

Rias regarded me in silence for several seconds.

"Careful" she said at last. "That wasn't flattery."

"It wasn't meant to be," I replied calmly. "Just an observation."

A faint, controlled smile crossed her lips.

"Very well. Until I decide otherwise, your situation remains under my supervision." she then added "But understand this: once you involve yourself with someone like me, there will be consequences—intended or not."
