Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 Return to the Base

Obito thoughtfully carried the 'weak' Shindai on his back.

Shindai, 'exhausted', said to Kakashi, "Kakashi, since the mission is complete, let's leave quickly. I need rest; the feeling of Chakra exhaustion is terrible."

Kakashi, with a face full of black lines, nodded, "Let's go, back to the Garrison."

After returning to the Konoha Garrison, Shindai became lively again. After eating, he immediately went back to his tent to catch up on sleep.

Meanwhile, Kakashi found Jiraiya to report on the mission.

"Lord Jiraiya, the investigation is complete. There are indeed Cloud Ninja stationed 15 kilometers to the southwest. Inside a small hill, there is a cave with one Cloud Ninja guard at the entrance, and 15 Cloud Ninja inside, making a total of 16 Cloud Ninja!"

Jiraiya said with some surprise, "The investigation is complete so quickly, and so thoroughly?"

Kakashi replied truthfully, "This is thanks to one of Shindai's Ninjutsu."

Kakashi told Jiraiya about Shindai using Ninjutsu to create a Third Eye for reconnaissance.

Jiraiya stroked his chin and asked curiously, "There's such a convenient Ninjutsu? This child is indeed quite remarkable."

Kakashi then said seriously, "Lord Jiraiya, there's something I'm a bit concerned about. Shindai saw a map with many markings on a table in the Cloud Ninja's encampment."

Jiraiya immediately asked, "Do you know what kind of map it was, and what locations were marked?"

Kakashi shook his head, "Because Shindai directly pretended to be Chakra exhausted, and I only later remembered the information Shindai mentioned and thought there might be an issue, so I haven't asked yet."

Jiraiya paused, then said, "Anyway, I have nothing to do right now, so I'll go with you to see him. If the map on the Cloud Ninja's table has many markings, then those markings might indicate their preparations to attack us, or perhaps other Cloud Ninja garrisons.

So, to be cautious, it's necessary to confirm with Shindai about the map he saw."

Kakashi and Jiraiya headed to Shindai's tent.

Shindai, full and content, was sleeping soundly, but suddenly felt as if someone was shaking him vigorously.

Shindai groggily opened his eyes, and the first thing that came into view was a large face.

Shindai shivered and instantly sat up from the bed: "My goodness, what is that, so ugly!"

Jiraiya, who had his face close to Shindai's, straightened up and said displeasedly, "Hey, hey, hey, how dare you speak like that, kid? I'm a famous handsome man in the Village, and many pretty girls adore me!"

Shindai looked blankly at the two people standing by his bed, asking confusedly, "Lord Jiraiya? Kakashi? Why are you in my tent, peeking at me sleeping?"

Kakashi twitched his lips; who would want to peek at him sleeping?!

Kakashi pointed at Jiraiya, "Lord Jiraiya needs to talk to you, to ask about the map."

Shindai was even more bewildered, "Map? What map?"

Jiraiya explained, "Kakashi said that when you were scouting the Cloud Ninja, you found a map with markings there, right? Do you remember what that map looked like?"

Shindai recalled for a moment and replied, "I did see it, and I looked at it several times. At the time, those Cloud Ninja were gathered around that map, seemingly discussing something. However, I didn't specifically memorize the map, so I'm not very clear on what it looked like."

Jiraiya took out several maps and placed them in front of Shindai, "Shindai, do you think the Cloud Ninja's map resembles any of these?"

Shindai picked up and examined them one by one. When he picked up the third map, Shindai stated with certainty, "It's this map!"

Jiraiya and Kakashi looked at the map in Shindai's hand, and their eyes simultaneously narrowed.

The map Shindai was holding was a regional map of their Konoha Garrison's location.

The Cloud Ninja had a regional map of the Konoha Garrison's location, marked it extensively, and were discussing it. It seemed the Cloud Ninja were planning some action against their Konoha Garrison.

Jiraiya asked with a serious expression, "Shindai, do you remember the locations of the markings on the map?"

Shindai said with difficulty, "How could I remember all of them? I only glanced at that map a few times. There were seven or eight markings in total, but I remember two or three of them. I don't know if they're accurate."

Jiraiya nodded, "Then Shindai, just mark the ones you remember."

Shindai got out of bed, walked to the table, and spread the map flat on it.

"At that time, I was... yes, this was the angle from which I saw the map. Then one marking was here, another marking was here, and another marking... it should probably be here."

Shindai quickly marked the three locations he remembered on the map.

Jiraiya and Kakashi looked at the map again.

One of Shindai's markings was to the side of the Konoha Garrison, and the other two markings were both behind the Konoha Garrison.

Jiraiya's expression was grave, and he left the tent directly.

Shindai asked confusedly, "Kakashi, what's wrong with Lord Jiraiya?"

Kakashi replied, "Lord Jiraiya probably thinks the Cloud Ninja are going to attack the Konoha Garrison."

Shindai said anxiously, "Ah? What? They're attacking here? Then let's run quickly!"

Kakashi gave Shindai a speechless look and said, "Run for what? We have Lord Jiraiya, Lord Orochimaru, and Lady Tsunade, the Leafs Sannin, stationed here. And we Konoha Ninja here aren't pushovers either.

What's more, now that Lord Jiraiya has been alerted by the map you marked, he must have gone to discuss it with Lord Orochimaru. So there's no need to worry at all right now."

Hearing Kakashi say this, Shindai breathed a sigh of relief.

If the Cloud Ninja launched a full-scale attack here, a chaotic battle would be too dangerous.

However, Shindai had another good idea and said to Kakashi, "Kakashi, if everything's fine, that's best. I'll go back to sleep then."

Kakashi waved his hand, said "Then you go back to sleep," and then left the tent.

After Kakashi left, Shindai took out paper and pen, wrote a letter, then quietly left the tent and summoned a Shinobi Hawk in a hidden spot.

The Shinobi Hawk flinched as soon as it saw Shindai, stepping back two paces.

Shindai said with a dark expression, "Why are you backing away? Are you afraid I'll eat you? Come here!"

The Shinobi Hawk was astonished; wasn't it exactly afraid that Shindai would eat it?!

Shindai tied the letter to the Shinobi Hawk's body: "Alright, deliver this letter to Uncle Kaito, go!"

The Shinobi Hawk immediately flew into the sky, fleeing from Shindai as if for its life.
