Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 The Carnival Ends

The sound of gunfire from the middle of the pursuer convoy immediately drew everyone's attention.

However, in such a situation, the convoy, which was already not very orderly and only barely maintained its formation due to a consistent direction, immediately fell into disarray.

Moreover, as the number of vehicles caught in the crossfire increased, the scale of the engagement rapidly expanded.

In reality, even though all these vehicles were single-mindedly chasing Luca and his group, seemingly like close partners, the complexity of their members far exceeded imagination.

In fact, only a very small portion of them were truly under Kingpin's complete control.

And most of these Kingpin's direct subordinates had received his notification as soon as he discovered his lair was invaded and had gone to provide support.

Many of them had been eliminated or had their vehicles damaged and dropped out of the convoy due to the previous continuous car accidents and Shield Mountain and his team's constant counterattacks.

Among the remaining individuals, some were members of various gangs controlled by Kingpin, who, upon learning of Kingpin's death, sought revenge. Others might not yet know Kingpin had died and wished to earn merit in front of the Hells Kitchen emperor.

There were also smaller gangs previously suppressed by Kingpin, who intended to seize this opportunity to showcase themselves, gain notoriety, or fish in troubled waters within Hells Kitchen and even the New York underworld.

Many others simply didn't know what was happening, only noticing the movements of allies or rival gangs, and attempted to observe or cause trouble.

This also led to the chaotic crossfire, which, as soon as it appeared, immediately began to spread uncontrollably.

Even gangs from several blocks away, who had just arrived to investigate the situation, were inexplicably drawn into this chaotic battle.

Luca and his group, still racing ahead.

Upon suddenly realizing that only a few enemies were left chasing their news van, and more enemies were desperately fighting among themselves, they looked at each other in the car, somewhat bewildered.

"Is that... done?"

"So, do we still need to drive towards the Hudson River?"

Inside the car, Green Bull, holding a bomb, scratched his green hair in confusion and turned to look at Shield Mountain and Luca.

At this moment, Luca, who had been using his crime tracking glasses in thermal imaging mode, also noticed that the police armed helicopter that had been constantly trailing their 'lead vehicle' seemed to hesitate.

It gradually slowed down from its original tilted following position, as if deciding whether to continue following them, the 'culprits,' or to head to the areas with the densest gang conflicts to report the situation in real-time to police headquarters.

Seeing this, Luca immediately informed Shield Mountain of what he saw.

He and Luca exchanged glances, then Shield Mountain nodded slightly.

"If that's the case, then...."

Then, just as Shield Mountain's words were halfway out, a series of massive roars from behind interrupted him.

Everyone turned their heads and looked into the distance.

Behind the gunfire of the vehicles that were still in a chaotic battle, an entire convoy charged forward amidst deafening engine roars.

They completely ignored whether other gang thugs, who were still exchanging fire along the way, were blocking their path.

All vehicles blocking the way were forcefully pushed aside by these people.

Moreover, and more importantly, all these wildly charging vehicles were punk-modified pickup trucks, similar to the muscular man who had caused the earlier chaos.

These armored pickup trucks were not only extremely sturdy and fearless of any collisions, but their charging speed was also not slow at all.

The rear of each modified pickup truck was spewing surging blue exhaust flames, giving these brutal behemoths both defense and weight, as well as impressive speed.

However, looking at the obviously abnormal shaking of those vehicles, and even the way parts were breaking off as they crashed, any sane person would probably not want to drive such unstable giant bombs on the road.

Yet, it was precisely this irrational madness, along with the wildly shouting and firing thugs on board, that allowed this convoy to forcefully tear a bloody path through the chaotic battlefield, heading straight for Luca and his group.

"Hahaha~ Catch them!!!"

"Brother Vladimir is going to be the Emperor of New York!!"

"Long live the Emperor!!!"

Watching the approaching mad gang, Shield Mountain stopped his previous words.

Ignoring the bullets that occasionally struck the news van's exterior, he turned to Green Bull and said calmly, "Are the bombs ready?"

Green Bull's face instantly lit up with an excited smile, his mouth stretching almost to his ears.

"Captain! They've been ready for ages! Just waiting for your word!"

"Then let's give them to these idiots!" Shield Mountain said.

"Alright!"

At this moment, Green Bull seemed to recall some wonderful scene, clicking several times on the bomb he had made, grinning widely.

The bomb's small display screen immediately began to flash red with 'beep-beep' sounds.

He decisively raised the bomb in his hand, his muscles tensed, and assumed a perfectly standard baseball pitcher's stance.

Samira and Hammer Stone also tacitly pushed open a small window in the shooting baffle in front of them.

The next moment, Green Bull's arm swung forward with rapid force.

The bomb, almost the size of a human head, flew out of the window, which was only slightly larger than it, like a rapidly fired cannonball.

In everyone's view, the seemingly haphazardly assembled, irregularly shaped bomb, under Green Bull's throw, hit the lead vehicle at the very front of the pursuing convoy with extremely precise aim.

Immediately after, there was a 'clang' as it made an insignificant dent in the baffle, then dropped to the ground and rolled twice.

The people in that modified pickup truck curiously tried to lean out and look, wanting to confirm what exactly had hit them.

Just then, the 'beep-beep-beep' alarm finally became a continuous sound.

The next instant, "Boom—!" Terrifying flames shot into the sky.

A violent Impact swept over everything.

The deafening roar silenced the chaotic night.

In an instant, everyone nearby was left only with blinding White light in their eyes and a continuous ringing in their ears.

The several pickup trucks that were side-by-side at the very center of the explosion were instantly torn to shreds.

The few vehicles that had passed the bomb's location at the front, along with the lead vehicle that had been hit, were all lifted into the air by the violent Impact.

There was no need to mention the thugs inside the vehicles.

The luckiest among them was probably the guy who was thrown dozens of meters high and landed on the roof of a nearby building.

Given that 'landing' height, he probably didn't feel much pain compared to the others... probably...

At least that guy didn't scream in pain after falling onto the roof, did he?

In fact, not only were the vehicles at the explosion's center affected, but the exterior glass of surrounding buildings was completely shattered.

The few pickup trucks behind that didn't directly bear the explosion were also blinded by the terrifying heat wave.

Countless shattered vehicle debris, carried by the Impact, pierced their vehicle bodies like dense shrapnel.

What these people once prided themselves on as modified parts had now become the most deadly blades.

When the explosion's fire finally dissipated, and the last miraculously surviving tail vehicle plunged into a deep crater in the ground, there was no longer any trace of Luca's news van on the road ahead.
