Chapter Ten (Part V) — Apex Gaze
"Now let's see you handle this, little cub."
My brother's voice dropped—flat, cold.
Then—
His pupils changed.
Not merely blue.
They became pure, radiant blue, endless and consuming, like an ocean without shore. Looking into them felt like standing before a rising tide so vast it erased the sky itself.
No—
Like staring up at a mountain that pierced the heavens, its peak forever beyond reach.
I felt small.
Insignificant.
A grain of sand watching an eagle soar, helpless beneath its shadow.
Azharyon's form shifted.
His eyes sharpened into those of a blue-eyed white tiger, ancient and merciless. White fur rippled across his body, marked by black-blue stripes that pulsed with power. His tail lashed behind him, cracking the air with each movement.
There was no warmth left in his expression.
Only hunger.
Only intent.
My instincts detonated.
DANGER. DANGER. DANGER.
Every cell in my body screamed the same warning—but my limbs refused to move. The pressure of his presence crushed down on me heavier than the gravity itself.
I couldn't breathe.
I couldn't blink.
I was prey.
BAAAM!
Pain exploded through my abdomen.
The world folded inward as the punch buried itself deep into my gut, driving the air from my lungs. I didn't see him move.
I didn't feel the wind shift.
One moment he was standing there—
The next, I was airborne.
My body slammed into the chamber wall, runes flaring violently as they struggled to absorb the impact. Stone shattered beneath me before snapping back into place.
I dropped to one knee, bile burning in my throat.

My vision swam.
But through the pain—
I smiled.
