Chapter 1 - Begin…

That didn't count as a very good beginning.

Under the hazy moonlight, the shimmering golden curls swayed gently with the night breeze. Behind those curls, a small, delicate bow tied his long hair back, exuding an air of exquisite refinement. His slender crimson pupils flickered faintly in the darkness, glinting with cunning and dangerous light. His immaculate medieval attire accentuated his bearing: this arrogant supernatural being, flashing the proud fangs he so cherished, waited in the night for his prey.

"Oh, look what we have here? A hapless human who has strayed into my domain—well then, tonight promises to be quite the show, doesn't it?" He tore through the darkness, ripping open space itself to descend before the bewildered human. The streetlamp flickered with feeble light, illuminating his skin, pale as paper. His cloak fluttered lightly behind him, golden curls falling messily across his forehead, like a fallen angel descended from hell, radiating lethal allure.

He bared a haughty smile at his prey, the light of desire in his pupils growing ever more intense. "Human." The languid voice carried a trace of mocking playfulness. "Perhaps you're simply lost? Do you need my help?"

The human stood frozen, the confusion and terror on his face like the most exquisite symphony, playing the final notes of death. He could feel the other's heartbeat: quickening with mounting desire, carrying the sweet, delectable scent, the amusement of toying with prey, and the inevitable end.

"..."

"Oh? Struck speechless with fear?" He raised a hand to his forehead in faint exasperation. "You humans are always like this. When faced with something you cannot comprehend, you pretend it doesn't exist. Such arrogant, ignorant creatures."

"...Vampire? Creatures like that only exist in novels and fantasy...right?" The human's voice trembled, thin and weak, laced with deep doubt, as though grasping at the last straw of self-deception.

He rolled his eyes. "My existence requires neither your understanding nor your approval, foolish human."

Facing the terrified prey, he revealed his sharp fangs. The sharp, dangerous signal spread through the alley. "You really are boring. I've seen so many humans..." He counted on his fingers: "Some fought madly; some tried to outsmart me; some even attempted to seduce me with their beauty. All kinds of humans. And yet every single one — " He glanced again at the shivering human, his gaze filled with bored indifference. " — ultimately vanished beneath my power. And you..." The blood-red pupils reflected a merciless verdict as he smiled dismissively. "You're the most boring kind."

In an instant, the human was slammed against the wall by an overwhelming force. The vampire's icy fingers lightly traced across his cheek, fangs glinting at his lips as he whispered the sentence of doom. "You're nothing but a stupid, tedious prey, wasting my precious time."

The human's hoarse scream echoed through the alley. Blood gushed from his neck like a fountain, warm life pouring into the vampire's greedy mouth. His fingers dug tightly into the fragile human flesh, drawing forth enticing crimson light.

"Please..." The human struggled, trembling. "Spare me... I'll give you anything..."

"Oh? And what do you think you could possibly give me?" He mocked with a laugh, pulling his mouth away from the neck, leaving deep bloody marks. He savored the sight of the human's fear and weakness. Then he leaned close to the human's ear again, voice dripping with contempt: "Your only value is the power you provide me. You cannot save yourself."

The human's eyes filled with despair. "Help..." He tried to cry out, but a bony, well-defined hand clamped tightly over his mouth, nearly suffocating him.

The devilish whisper sounded in his ear.

"Surrender. Enjoy the last moments of your life." His seductive voice laughed as his hand roamed and toyed with the frail body, mocking without mercy. "Drown yourself in your fear and despair—it will be my sweetest dessert."
