Outside, the air felt heavier. Not oppressive.
Charged.
Felicity inhaled and frowned. The air carried something strange now. Not a scent exactly. A pressure that settled low in her body, warm and unsettling.
Want.
Not hers.
Not theirs.
It made skin feel too tight. Thoughts drift a little slower. Attention linger where it shouldn't.
Ivan rubbed the back of his neck. "Is it just me, or does it feel like the air's… leaning." Damien's pupils narrowed. "It's influence." Victor's jaw set. "The Commander."
Felicity swallowed. "It feels like… hunger."
"No," Voss corrected quietly. "Need."
That was worse. The pit yawned again in his chest. He stepped closer to Felicity, one arm subtly barring anyone else from approaching. When Sarge moved too close, Voss's lip curled in warning. Sarge lifted his hands. "Easy, mate."
