Chapter 1 - The one before whom even the Emperor is silent

The two great empires have been hostile to each other for centuries, with occasional periods of peace, but war has been the norm. The Lian Empire is a rich empire with a huge fleet and great infantry. It is bordered by the ocean to the east and has several large rivers in its interior, which makes it very strong in maritime trade.

Lian is also known for its outstanding silk trade, and the nobles wear clothes that are more beautiful and expensive than ever, but despite this immeasurable wealth, the poor people of the country still live in misery due to the rampant corruption that the imperial family is no longer able to control.

On the other hand, the Huo Empire is a country rich in raw materials, which is completely built on the military industry. Huo is rich in iron and copper mines, and they also breed excellent war horses. Here, the nobles have their own private armies, so the emperor's power is not as solid as in the Lian Empire.

However, there is not as much corruption here, mainly because almost every ministry operates independently, with no higher authority above it, making it a militant country with unstable domestic politics. The Huo Empire's largest army is the Iron Army, which numbers almost 200,000.

The army's general is Wei Jun, who is only sixteen years old, yet his word carries more weight than that of the emperor, as Wei Jun controls the southern part of Huo, where the country's three largest cities (excluding the capital) and sixty percent of the iron mines are located. Thus, Wei Jun is the most powerful man in the Huo Empire and the leader of the fearsome Iron Army.

The young general is currently sitting by a river with his right hand, chatting. "Kuan, don't you think it's a beautiful sight? Bai Wu is the first obstacle, and I believe that because it is protected by the river, it is impregnable." Wei Jun says with a laugh, a fierce grin on his face as he drinks his tea.
