Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Goro Goro no Mi

Even though Yemu had been a shut-in back on Earth, he was a pretty good cook.

With no girlfriend and no desire to go out on weekends, he often passed the time by experimenting with all kinds of recipes.

Time flew by. Thanks to Yemu's cooking skills and the surprisingly handy tools Enel carried with him, the ingredients were well-prepared in no time.

Turns out, Enel must've been living alone for quite a while. His bag was packed with daily essentials, which saved Yemu a lot of trouble.

Though the world of One Piece—and especially Skypiea—was full of fantastical elements, the ingredients here weren't all that different. The Sea Clouds had an impressive variety of food sources.

Yemu chose something simple: crab, fish, and shrimp.

Naturally, catching them was Enel's job.

In the end, even though the flavor was a bit bland due to the lack of seasonings, both of them had been starving, so everything tasted amazing.

After happily polishing off the seafood, the two lay back on the soft clouds, letting out a deep, satisfied sigh.

After a bit of rest, Yemu began to feel some strength returning to his body.

That's when he really started to think about his situation.

Judging by the boy next to him, there was no doubt—this was Enel. According to the story, Enel was older than Luffy. So if he was still a kid right now, then this had to be early in the Age of Exploration.

As for himself, he'd clearly soul-swapped into a local body. Judging by his clothing—and the giant ruby on his chest—this body must've belonged to someone either rich or noble.

Too bad he had no memory of the original.

Not that it mattered much.

He glanced at little Enel again, who looked just as relaxed.

Alone in this world, Yemu knew he needed a solid partner—someone who could help him survive, and maybe even reach the Blue Sea below one day to explore the wider world.

Right now, Enel was the perfect candidate.

And from the looks of it, Enel hadn't found the Goro Goro no Mi yet.

Which meant… if he stayed with him, he might just stumble across it.

And if that happened... did that mean he could claim it for himself?

The very thought made his heart race.

After all, the Goro Goro no Mi was one of the most powerful Logia-type Devil Fruits, unmatched in raw destructive power.

If he could get his hands on it, his future in this world would be limitless...

With that in mind, Yemu made up his mind—he was sticking with Enel, no matter what.

"Hey, how was it? Tasty?" he asked.

"Hmph."

Enel gave a prideful little snort, but his tone had softened. Clearly, good food was one of the best ways to win over a kid.

But then...

"I have to go."

This time, he meant it. He'd already been gone too long. If the Divine Soldiers of Skypiea found him, he'd be in serious trouble.

And the villagers had probably returned by now. If they found out he was missing, there'd be questions—and consequences.

"Be careful. Find a place to hide. If the Divine Soldiers catch you, you're done for."

He hesitated for a second, a flicker of conflict flashing across his face, then tossed the small bundle in his hand to Yemu.

"I've only got one fruit left. Was gonna eat it myself, but... you take it."

With that, he grabbed what was left of the seafood and walked away.

Yemu didn't call out to stop him. His eyes were locked on the bundle Enel had left behind—on the edge of a fruit peeking out.

That mysterious spiral pattern. Those lightning-like markings.

He didn't even need to guess.

It was the Goro Goro no Mi!!

"Hey, Enel, wait…"

The moment Yemu called out, he immediately wanted to slap himself.

Enel, who had just taken a step, stopped and looked back at him with a puzzled expression.

Yemu's heart was in complete turmoil, his thoughts battling each other furiously.

For most One Piece fans, the most iconic thing about the god Enel wasn't his arrogance, his lifeless fish-like eyes, or even his golden spaceship. It wasn't his grand ambition to reach the moon, either.

No—the most unforgettable thing about him was the power he wielded: the Goro Goro no Mi.

A Devil Fruit, known as one of the sea's hidden treasures. Eating one grants you powers beyond imagination—but at the cost of never being able to swim again, forever cursed by the sea.

Devil Fruits came in three main types: Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia.

And among them, Logia-type fruits were widely regarded as the strongest. Just look at the evidence—Marine Admirals, Crocodile from the Shichibukai, maybe even Luffy's father, Dragon... all of them were Logia users.

Their overwhelming power spoke for itself.

Sure, it was said that a Devil Fruit's strength depended on the user's ability to develop it—that there were no "weak" fruits, only weak users. But even so, possessing a powerful fruit gave you a massive head start on the road to greatness.

And right now, Yemu was staring at that very opportunity.

He didn't know why, but something in him was absolutely certain: the fruit Enel had casually tossed to him was none other than the legendary Goro Goro no Mi—the Logia-type fruit of lightning.

He wanted to eat it. Right then and there.

But…

That tiny voice in his head—the one shaped by years of upbringing and conscience—made him hesitate.

A fierce internal struggle raged within.

If he ate this fruit, his days of struggling for survival would be over. He'd gain the potential to rise to the top of this world, to become someone powerful—maybe even a king.

But then he remembered... Enel was the one who found it first.

Sure, Enel clearly had no idea what the fruit was or what it could do. But still, he'd handed it over, hesitating for a moment, then choosing to leave it for Yemu—just because he cared.

What if, one day, Enel learned that Yemu's strength came from that very fruit?

How would he face him?

Wouldn't that become a permanent scar—a mark of shame he could never wash away?

Could he still call himself worthy of ruling this world?

Conflicting emotions tore at him—eat it, or don't?

Years of moral education had left Yemu with a strong sense of gratitude and fairness. Some might call it naive, but it was what kept his conscience intact.

In the end, Yemu clenched his teeth, forcing back the overwhelming urge to devour the fruit, and looked at Enel.

"Hey, where... where did you find this fruit?"
