KAEL'S POV

The kiss was all I could think about.

Every step I took through camp, every word I barked at the wolves, every breath I drew, it was there. Her mouth on mine. Her hands in my hair. The small, broken moan she let slip when my tongue found hers. The way her body had arched into me like it was starving. The taste of salt and tears and something sweeter underneath, something that was just her.

I hadn't kissed anyone like that in years.

Not since Selene, and even then it had never felt like this, like the world narrowed to one point of contact and everything else burned away.

I wanted to talk to her.

I Needed to talk to her.

Surely nobody saw us.

Eira had interrupted us, yes, but she'd come from the side flap. The angle was wrong. The lantern light was low. The camp was dark. They wouldn't confront me about it. They wouldn't dare.

But I needed to know what it meant to her.
