"Rhodes."
Emmett called him "Rhodes," as if Damien's first name wasn't worth the effort. Or maybe he was simply used to addressing him that way? Severine had no evidence for that assumption.
The two families were business enemies yet closely intertwined. Damien and Emmett actually grew up playing in the same playgrounds.
As for what kind of relationship they had when they were kids, no one in Severine's circle knew.
"Don't make trouble," Emmett chided the young man whose build far outweighed his own.
He didn't look the least bit afraid.
"There is a pool if you want to cool off."
From a distance, they looked like old friends—perhaps even brothers— with one being mature and the other being childish.
Damien's jaw clenched so hard that Severine and Samuel both heard his teeth grinding.
