"Whoa, easy there, princess," a silky, mocking voice hissed from the shadows. "Wouldn't want you hurting your throat… not before it's put to good use, right?"
Severine struggled to steady herself, trying to make out the shape of the man looming over her.
Her strength was fleeing her body. If not for the door and the person holding her upright, she would have long since slid to the floor.
She gingerly touched the diamond-studded wristwatch.
The cold surface reminded her that the banquet was in full swing, and that no guests would come near the guest rooms at such a time.
