Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Chakra Affinity

"So you're going to teach me?" I asked Aiko. I did not dislike the fact of having a private tutor. In fact, I would have loved one.

By having a tutor, I would know whether I am doing something right or wrong. It would help me save a lot of time that I would have spent on experimenting. It also meant that I would not give myself a serious injury or worse kill myself while experimenting.

Private tutors also meant that if I impressed her, she might also teach me some ninjutsu or something else that was unique to her.

Who knows maybe the old lady had a summoning contract that she might just give to me in order to continue her legacy?

Aiko smiled. "Something like that. I'm just supposed to watch you, but Shika didn't say I couldn't show you a thing or two. I gathered up some books to see what you might be interested in." She motioned to the stack on the table.

"Oh! But before I forget." she waddled over to the table and picked up a sheet of blank paper. She waddled back and held it out to me. "Channel your chakra through this."

I took the paper with wide eyes. "Is this chakra paper?"

Aiko laughed. "If only all Nara were smart and motivated. You've got the mind of a Nara and the drive of an Uzumaki. That's a deadly combination."

I scratched behind my head nervously. "I don't think I'd go that far."

It was only because of my anime knowledge that I knew the fact and as for the drive, I would have been also lazy if I did not know the dangers lurking in the shinobi world.

Aiko raised an eyebrow at me. "You went to the Hyuga compound and came back covered in lumps. You don't need to be a Nara to figure out what happened there."

"How do you know I went to the Hyuga compound?" I asked, confused. I hadn't told anyone where I was going, and it wasn't like my parents would have gone looking for me.

"The Hyuga head cleared your training with Shika. Didn't want to step on toes and risk making anyone angry. Now channel your chakra, boy!" Aiko finished impatiently.

I jolted, channeling my chakra into the paper, my mind elsewhere.

Why did Hiashi ask Shikaku for permission to let me train at the Hyuga compound? It was probably just a formality to keep the peace between clans, right?

There was no way I had that kind of attention focused solely on me. I was a little smart for my age, and a little above average at sparring. That didn't set off prodigy flags, right?

Aiko's whistle pulled me from my thoughts. Her eyes were fixed on the chakra paper in my hands.

I looked down just in time to see one third of the paper flash away in a burst of flame, another one third of the paper became soaked in water and fell to the ground and the last one third of the paper crumble to dirt.

Aiko frowned at the half of the paper still in my hand, damp and coming apart. She had a completely befuddled look on her face, like gravity wasn't functioning properly.

"What?" I asked.

Aiko turned around and waddled around one of the shelves. I moved to follow her, but she returned quickly, another piece of blank paper in her hands.

"Channel your chakra into this."

"Didn't I do it already?" I asked.

Aiko narrowed her eyes. "Channel your chakra, brat."

I sighed and took the paper, pushing my chakra into it. Again, one third of the paper went up in flames, other became saturated with water and the last ne crumbled to dirt.

"So?" I asked after a moment.

"Fire, water and Earth huh? Interesting. Keep it to yourself. You'll be able to surprise your classmates." Aika said as she took the wet paper away from me. I wasn't sure why she'd made me do it twice, but whatever.

Turning back to stare at the paper, I frowned. Water, Earth and fire were good, but together they were weird. Water was fire's natural enemy, right? And if I knew from the anime, Earth was Water's enemy.

I would have preferred to have lightning as one of my natures. I recalled the general principles for using the chidori from my first life and had wanted to make use of it in my fighting style. It seemed that wasn't to be. I might be biased but Chidori was a pretty cool jutsu.

I always imagined having my arm covered in lightning and then slam it into the enemy's chest. I wouldn also loved to have a wind affinity. Afterall, it was the affinity of the protagonist and you could do pretty cool shit with it.

Danzo, one of the most hated character of Naruto probably second to the pre- war arc Sakura was pretty badass when he used his Vaccum wind jutsus.

Although…I might be able to do something interesting with water, Earth and fire. I wasn't a scientist in my last life, but I did study a lot of science just because it interested me. There might be something in there I could take advantage of.

I was also quite giddy about the fact that I had three chakra affinities. Even the two protagonists had one and two each. If I am not wrong, three affinities meant that I would be able to easily train jutsus of that affinity. I might be wrong considering that I am just speaking of what little was showed in anime.

"I'll get started on writing up some exercises for you, but for now, you're going to read this." Aiko ordered, shoving a book towards me.

"What is this?" I asked.

"Water-walking principles. If you were able to stick leaves to yourself as a tot, you should be able to walk on water by the end of the semester."

I stared numbly at the book, my eyes slowly tracking back up to Aiko. "But I haven't even learned tree walking yet."

Tree walking was supposed to be the next step for chakra control training after all.

Aiko grinned, her crooked teeth making her look like a witch. "Then I guess you'd better get to work, huh, boy?"
