Chapter 50 - Chapter 50 -- Comprehension

"Master Candre!"

The black-clothed attendant bowed deeply toward the old man standing before the cultivation room door. Ji Ning's clone, along with the others, followed suit without hesitation.

"This is Master Candre, the guardian of the Chaos Tablet cultivation chambers," the attendant explained respectfully. "Each of the fifty-two Chaos Tablet rooms is overseen by one of Master Candre's clones. He has guarded this place for more than a million epochs and is one of the most respected seniors in Primordial Chaos City."

After finishing the introduction, the attendant quietly withdrew.

Candre's expression was gentle and calm, his eyes carrying a faint warmth that put people at ease. "Please wait a moment," he said softly. "The group currently comprehending inside will be coming out shortly."

No one dared to speak. They waited in silence.

A short while later, the heavy door slowly opened.

"Time is up," Candre's voice echoed from within. "Everyone, come out."

One by one, cultivators who had been immersed in comprehension emerged, expressions varying wildly—some enlightened and refreshed, others pale and exhausted, and a few clearly unwilling, as if they had been forcibly dragged out of a dream.

"You will have seven days inside," Candre said calmly. "After seven days, the door will open automatically, and you must leave immediately. Do you understand?"

"Understood," everyone answered in unison.

With nervous anticipation, the new group entered the cultivation chamber.

The secret room was enormous.

At its center stood a Chaos Tablet nearly one hundred meters tall and wide. Its surface was ancient and mottled, exuding an indescribable pressure. Nine vast images were carved upon it, each radiating a profound aura.

Along the edge of the tablet, characters in universal script were engraved clearly—

Yan Mountain.

Ji Ning's clone's gaze swept across the images.

The first picture depicted scattered rocks. Upon careful observation, there were exactly nine.

The second picture showed towering mountains—three colossal peaks standing firm and majestic.

The third picture displayed an even denser mountain range, countless peaks rising and falling like waves. Upon counting carefully, there were precisely one hundred and eight distinct peaks.

The fourth picture transformed into a star map: a single planet surrounded by four satellites, locked in a delicate cosmic balance.

The ninth picture was the most obscure. Countless bizarre and ancient monsters filled the scene, their forms indistinct and impossible to enumerate, as though symbolizing infinite evolution and transformation.

Ji Ning's clone did not rush.

He found a suitable position, sat down cross-legged, and focused his gaze on the first picture.

The moment his consciousness touched it—

The rocks seemed to move.

Mountains rose and fell.

Earth-shaking beasts roared, and vast sword techniques unfolded like natural disasters. Streams of comprehension surged into his mind, flowing simultaneously through the consciousness of all three of his clones.

Earth.

Space.

Weight.

Stability.

Transformation.

Layer upon layer of insight struck his soul like waves.

Time lost meaning.

When he finally regained awareness, seven days had already passed.

The door opened once more, and Candre's voice called them out. Ji Ning's clone stood up reluctantly, feeling as though he had only just grasped the edge of something immense.

After leaving the Chaos Tablet corridor and exiting the City Lord's Mansion, everyone dispersed to find their respective residences within Primordial Chaos City.

Ji Ning's clone headed straight toward the coordinates Gan Wu Country Lord had given him long ago.

Before long, he found a small building tucked away along a quiet street. Its door glowed light white—unoccupied.

The moment his palm touched it, the door turned dark gray.

An intelligent voice confirmed his ownership.

After briefly inspecting the residence, Ji Ning's clone found nothing particularly surprising. The rooftop terrace bore chaotic patterns, remnants of past cultivation, but after seeing a true Chaos Tablet, such things no longer stirred his interest.

This place had once been used by Gan Wu Country Lord in his early years. Its greatest value lay not in opportunities, but in inheritance and atmosphere.

After settling in, Ji Ning's clone immediately logged into the Virtual Universe.

This time, he appeared directly within his manor in the Rain Phase Mountain Primitive Mystical Region. Ever since passing the assessment, his status had changed, and so had his default login location.

After exchanging brief greetings with the manor guards, he quickly applied to enter the Tongtian Bridge plane. The fist-sized Long Kui on his shoulder immediately initiated communication with the Virtual Universe system.

A voice soon sounded in his mind.

"Identity confirmed: Ji Ning. You have permanently obtained qualification to challenge the Tongtian Bridge. We hope you strive forward and reach its end. Transmitting now."

With a soft swish, his surroundings changed.

He appeared on a vast ocean plane, endless waters stretching in all directions. At the center lay a beautiful island, serene and untouched.

Along the island's edge were fifty-two ports. From each port extended an immeasurably long bridge, reaching into the far horizon, as though connecting Heaven and Earth themselves.

These were the fifty-two Tongtian Bridges—each corresponding to a Chaos Tablet, each representing a distinct cultivation path.

Under Ba Fen's guidance, Ji Ning's clone walked toward the bridge belonging to the Yan Mountain Chaos Tablet.

"No one is on it at the moment," Ba Fen said calmly. "Go ahead."

Whoosh!

Ji Ning's clone shot forward, stepping onto the endless bridge. He soon passed a stone tablet engraved with the words Yan Mountain.

Information from the Virtual Universe Corporation flooded into his consciousness. He skimmed it briefly—most of it matched what he already knew.

One clause caught his attention.

All points earned during the thirty years in Primordial Chaos City would be multiplied tenfold.

Even for someone not lacking wealth, such generosity was impossible to ignore.

Without slowing down, he reached the end of the first layer.

"Choose your opponent," the familiar voice echoed. "Martial Artist, Mental Master Controller, or Mental Master Illusionist."

He chose a Martial Artist without hesitation.

A mass of black liquid condensed, forming a masked figure wielding a sword-type origin weapon. Ji Ning's clone moved decisively, eliminating the guardian with ease.

One layer passed.

Then another.

He advanced steadily, defeating guardian after guardian, until he reached the ninth layer—where he was finally stopped.

The ninth layer represented complete mastery of the first three images of the Yan Mountain Chaos Tablet, including full comprehension of all one hundred and eight essences of Space Law.

Even with years of accumulation and the assistance of his Mo Sha Clan clone, he was still some distance away.

After failing again, Ji Ning's clone did not rush back to the Chaos Tablet.

He understood clearly—

The Chaos Tablet's greatest value was not brute-force comprehension, but the integration of accumulated insights. Using it without sufficient foundation would only waste an irreplaceable opportunity.

What he needed now was accumulation.

More battles.

More reflection.

More understanding.

Only when his progress slowed would another seven days before the Chaos Tablet truly bring explosive gains.

With this thought settled, Ji Ning's clone withdrew calmly, already planning his next stage of cultivation.
