Chapter 60 - Beasts!

At this moment, Yao remained surprisingly calm. She was in no hurry, only swiftly glancing at the height of the cell door.

She had been puzzled earlier, wondering why the ceiling of the prison cell was so high.

It was four meters tall.

Now, she realized that this was likely to accommodate the height of the coffin-bearer.

Just like in a game, certain bosses inevitably appear.

Three meters tall, clumsy, burdened by a heavy coffin, its center of gravity was naturally unstable.

She recalled, during her previous unconsciousness, witnessing its walking posture—it leaned forward, as if fearing the coffin would collide with the ceiling.

The corridor height had also been about four meters back then.

And here in the prison, there was a threshold.

Yao lowered her eyes, bent down, and pulled a chain's frayed end, handing it casually to Yuqin.

Her movements were graceful yet commanding, like a wealthy patron casually handing over a thick, exquisite necklace to their companion.

Yuqin blinked. "?"

It was indeed thick. Incredibly thick.

In the 002 prison cell, Barbara was mercilessly torturing the prisoners, but their expressions suddenly turned to fear as they too heard the heavy, ominous footsteps.

Lin Hangjing, observing the outside, soon spotted the massive figure—three meters tall—carrying a heavy coffin as it slowly lumbered past the prison.

Its head was still wrapped in a burlap sack, stained and possibly with traces of blood.

It was more than terrifying.

As it passed, everyone instinctively held their breath.

Prison 002, unlike others, did not know it was heading towards Prison 001, so when it passed by them, panic surged. They feared their breath would be detected, and then it might come inside...

Fortunately, it moved on.

Lin Hangjing quickly calculated the steps, gauging where it had stopped.

The third cell from the row.

That was Prison 001.

How many of those in Prison 001 could survive facing such a terrifying figure?

After the coffin-bearer passed, Barbara suddenly said, "What are you staring at? It's only a matter of time before it's your turn. Though, it's also possible that you might die before that."

"Alright, time for the first question: What color is the monster's underwear?"

Everyone: "???"

Lin Hangjing: "…"

They were still stunned by the underwear question, but in Prison 001, the 33 people were truly facing their greatest ordeal.

The coffin-bearer stopped, turned, and faced them. Then... its long, ape-like arm stretched out.

From its pocket, it pulled out a key.

Click, click.

The iron door to the prison unlocked, and it stepped inside, but due to the coffin on its back, it had to lean forward and step over the threshold.

At that moment, Yuqin, hidden by the wall at the sides of the door, quickly threw the chain to Lan Bing, who was crouching opposite. Both of them yanked the chain taut and then pulled it in the opposite direction of the coffin-bearer's entry.

With an unstable center of gravity, even a martial arts master would be vulnerable to a sneak attack.

The creature fell forward, but its long arm reached out to brace itself against the ground.

It wasn't a foolish, clumsy boss. It had a reflexive response and obviously wouldn't fall so easily.

Lan Bing, seizing the opportunity, had intended to rush in for the kill, but seeing the creature attempt to rise again, he quickly retreated to protect himself.

Just as he stepped back, a shadow flitted through the air like a ghost, swiftly slipping under the creature's outstretched arm. In one fluid motion, it used its long legs to sweep across, delivering a powerful blow to the coffin-bearer.

Thud!

The creature, with its coffin pressing down its back, was unsteady. Its arms acted as support pillars, but those pillars weren't stable. With perfect timing, it lost its grip, and its palm slid outwards, causing its body to topple left.

In that instant, it reached out for Yao's leg, but she twisted and leaped, using its arm to propel herself upwards, locking her hand around its neck.

"Roar!"

The coffin-bearer tried to throw her off, but with its legs on the ground, it slammed its long arm down in an attempt to shake her loose. The impact was so strong that the floor trembled, and stones cracked apart.

Yet it couldn't throw her off.

Yao had placed her thumb and middle finger on a pressure point at the back of its neck. In an instant, its strength faltered, and its head began to sway.

At that moment, her other hand rose, falling sharply.

The sound was swift, a flash of red—like a streak of lightning.

Then came a sharp, piercing noise.

A slender, sharp object pierced its skin, driving straight into its neck.

Its body twitched violently, the ferocity in its movements draining away as if a balloon had deflated. For a brief two seconds, it stood frozen, breathing raggedly beneath its burlap hood.

And then, it fell.

This time, there was no resistance—just a soft thud.

The scene grew eerily quiet. Lan Bing and the others were unusually silent. Yuqin seemed lost in thought, as if assessing something.

The precision of this execution was terrifying, but there was something about it that reminded her of someone else—someone just as deadly.

The keen judgment, the smooth operation.

Yao rose from the creature's neck, her crimson weapon slick with blood.

The silence was broken by the sound of her pulling the weapon from the corpse, leaving behind only the slickness of the bloodstained blade.

"How easy was that to kill? This little boss was a joke."

"Ridiculous. Lan Bing didn't even get the kill on this one?"

In the waiting area, the once quiet atmosphere was shattered by murmurs.

How could it be this easy to kill?

Lin Hangjing, watching the screen, clenched his jaw, his expression grim. He rubbed his still-sore neck, a reminder of how close he had come to death.

If he hadn't retreated in time, it would have been over for him.

And now this… was this how the bosses were treated? No mercy, just pure efficiency.

Damn Yao! Damn her!
