Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Mod: Just Enough Items

Made from wheat ground down in the M2 era, Zeke suspected that the genetic sequence of this wheat was closer to human than most of the creatures on this planet.

Gurgle... The gluttonous worms in his stomach were roused, emitting a long, rumbling protest.

This craving for food made Zeke feel the pulse of his own life once again.

No wonder people said food could soothe the soul.

The hesitation of transmigrating into a strange world, and the fear of the future, were more or less alleviated.

Zeke stored the Bread in his Inventory. His Hunger Bar had only dropped by two units so far, and bread restored three, so he chose to ration it for now.

He then looked at the Apples nearby. These were crucial materials for crafting Golden Apples, so he stored them as well.

Next were the Wooden Pickaxe and Stone Axe. Their shapes vaguely resembled their Minecraft counterparts, but the materials and details looked as if they had been given an ultra-HD texture pack.

First, I'll mine some stone in this underground cave and upgrade this shabby wooden pickaxe to a stone one.

Zeke shook his head, shaking the fear and those distant, unrealistic thoughts out of his mind, and focused on the task at hand.

He waited deliberately for a while until the commotion above had completely vanished. Then, Zeke grabbed the wooden pickaxe he got from the Bonus Chest and swung it at the stone wall.

A dull thud echoed through the cave. The surface of the wall struck by the pickaxe spiderwebbed with countless cracks.

It was surprisingly easy. Zeke looked at his hands in amazement.

His mining movements were fluid. Whether it was the swing of his arm or the power generated from his waist and core—in a word: standard.

More importantly, after those few swings, he wasn't even breathing hard. Only his Hunger Bar flickered slightly.

On a whim, Zeke switched to his bare fist and punched the stone wall with full force.

Bang! The cracks on the wall widened a bit, but his hand—aside from being dusted with some rock powder—was completely unharmed.

His physical constitution was surprisingly good. Although it wasn't as exaggerated as the original block-man who could carry 36 stacks of 64 cubic meters of gold blocks, it was still far beyond an ordinary person.

His chances of surviving in Warhammer just got bigger. Zeke clenched his fist, feeling the inexhaustible strength in his body, then raised the wooden pickaxe again and continued mining.

One block, two blocks, three blocks...

After the stone wall was mined, it left behind a perfectly square void, just like in Minecraft.

In the center of the void, a small floating block appeared, which was sucked into Zeke's Inventory.

[Cadian Cobblestone]. The tag displayed the name of the stone.

Zeke broke down the Logs into Planks, then skillfully crafted a Crafting Table and Sticks.

He then placed two sticks and three [Cadian Cobblestone] blocks on the Crafting Table.

The materials on the table were drawn together by an invisible force, then transformed and reorganized.

A brand-new tool lay quietly before him.

Minecraft crafting... no matter how many times I see it, it still feels incredible.

Witnessing the whole process, Zeke couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

Just needing raw materials to skip the process and obtain a finished product—in a sense, this was even superior to an STC template.

If the Cogboys (Tech-Priests) saw this, they would probably go completely insane on the spot.

Zeke reached out and gripped the handle. The Stone Pickaxe was significantly heavier, feeling much more stable in his hand.

As he weighed the new tool, text popped up in the chat box at the bottom left of his vision.

[Loading Mods...]

Followed by a screen full of garbled code.

[First item crafted. Mod: JEI Item Manager, Enabled.]

Mods? Zeke was stunned for a moment, then a wave of surprise washed over him. This was good news.

Starting off with a heavyweight like JEI (Just Enough Items)—this mod was a household name, essential for any modpack.

Not only could it query crafting recipes, but more importantly, it could display the uses of items. It was practically an omniscient encyclopedia.

Holding a piece of freshly mined cobblestone, Zeke tried to query it.

A transparent interface unfolded before his eyes, showing a 3x3 grid displaying recipes for various stone items.

Zeke flipped through them. They were all old friends; he could recite these common recipes by heart.

Crackle, pop. The torches planted around the Bonus Chest burned steadily.

illuminated by the firelight, Zeke grabbed the stone pickaxe, turned to face the stone wall he had just mined, powered up his arms, swung the pickaxe high, and brought it down.

Clang!

The mining speed was much faster. Zeke struck while the iron was hot, following the pattern to craft a Furnace and a Stone Sword.

He also mined some extra stone just in case.

When the stone in his Inventory accumulated to half a stack, the center of the large pit he had dug revealed a stone that was distinctly different from the surrounding rock.

It was a stone with a color far deeper than the surrounding rock, somewhat resembling Obsidian.

Zeke tentatively tapped the black stone a few times.

The sound of metal clashing rang out, and the recoil traveled up the pickaxe handle, numbing the web of his hand.

This black stone was extremely hard. His pickaxe level wasn't high enough; striking it only left a few almost invisible cracks.

Zeke dug around the black stone and discovered that the thing was terrifyingly huge.

Looking at the appearance of the stone, Zeke's first thought was of the Cadian Pylons.

There were 5,810 mysterious Pylons standing on the planet of Cadia, also composed entirely of unknown black stone.

Zeke weighed the pros and cons. Looking at his Hunger Bar, which had 6 units left, he chose to give up digging further. He put away the stone pickaxe, climbed out of the pit he had dug, and returned to the tunnel.

His gaze swept over the scattered fuel drums on the ground. Zeke tried to whack one with his stone pickaxe.

It dropped a [Promethium Bucket].

The icon style looked cool, like the Iron Bucket in Minecraft, but the model was covered in rust marks.

It could be used to hold water and lava. Zeke mined 5 more, stored the [Promethium Buckets] in his Inventory, and conveniently took the Bonus Chest and the four torches with him.

Holding a torch, Zeke followed the tunnel to find an exit.

The surrounding scenery was monotonous—nothing but rusty drums. There wasn't even a shadow of Coal or Iron Ore.

Zeke walked for a while but still couldn't see the end, so he stopped.

He prepared to forcibly open a vertical shaft.

Zeke placed stone blocks beneath his feet, stacking them one by one to tower up while digging straight up.

Every time he mined a block above him with the stone pickaxe, he immediately placed one under his feet to fill the gap.

Strange to say, the stones above remained suspended after losing support and did not collapse.

Just like that, in the silence, Zeke struggled upward, block by block, toward the surface.

From [Cadian Cobblestone] to [Dirt], Zeke felt the surface getting closer.

Finally, after digging away the last block of dirt, Zeke saw the light of day again.
