8: Chapter 8 Enel Joins the NavyAfter discovering the humanoid creature with large earlobes, Kizaru saw that it seemed to be searching for something in the garbage dump, so he didn't disturb it, but just watched its next move with interest.
Surprisingly, the humanoid creature glanced at him and then said, "Here we go again, you bastards.If you want to fight, then hurry up and fight.I still need to find more food after we're done."
This piqued Kizaru's interest considerably.How could a skinny, seemingly untrained person detect him behind him?This was innate Observation Haki!He'd struck gold.If he brought this guy back to the Marines, he could avoid being scolded for slacking off.
Then Kizaru spoke up, "Kid, you don't seem to be living a very good life here.How about you come work for me?The pay is pretty good.To quote Luffy, um.five social insurances and one housing fund, free meals and accommodation, plus extra pay."
"Oh, you've come up with something new again?You tricked me the last few times, making me get beaten up so much.I, Enel, am not stupid.You just want to beat me up, right?Come on, let's get it over with, stop with this nonsense." The long-eared man who called himself Enel turned around, straightened up, and said to Kizaru with a fierce but weak tone.
Kizaru was a little worried when he saw that the kid didn't believe him.After all, he was an admiral, and everyone respected him for his sense of justice.His words were credible, and he was used to being believed.It was hard to accept that he was no longer trusted.

Kizaru was getting impatient, and said in a somewhat gloomy tone, "Are you deliberately trying to cause trouble?Just tell me if you're coming or not.Are you coming or not?"
Enel scoffed at his words, "If it's true, I'll definitely come!But what if it's not true?"
"If it weren't true, I'd chop myself in half, would you be satisfied now?" Kizaru said, somewhat annoyed.
Hearing this, Enel couldn't stand it any longer.He pulled a fruit knife from the garbage heap and slashed at Kizaru, splitting the elementalized Kizaru in two with a single blow.
Just then, Luffy came out of the temple and, noticing Kizaru was gone, went to look for him.He then witnessed this scene, ran over, hugged Kizaru's "corpse," and shouted, "Sarirou, Sarirou!"
Seeing this, Enel dropped his sword, not even noticing the blood on it or on Kizaru; he was genuinely terrified.He had only intended to scare Kizaru with the sword, but the idiot didn't even flinch, letting him slash at him.
Just as the situation was spiraling out of control, Kizaru's body, which had been split in two, slowly reassembled, and he said in a somewhat horrifying way with half a mouth: "Now you can believe me, right?I, LBW, didn't cheat (not really).I, Kizaru, don't lie.Come work for me, and I'll provide food and lodging, how great is that?"
Enel, who had been completely stunned, began to recover.Hearing Kizaru continue, he realized the man wasn't lying.He then replied with a touch of self-deprecation:
"I can work for you, but can you tell me what talent you see in me?Ha, I've been a bird without wings since I was little, how could I possibly have any talent that anyone would value?"
Hearing Enel agree, Kizaru breathed a sigh of relief and replied, "It's just that you don't have wings.None of us below have wings, but we're still very strong.Don't worry about the wings.What I value is your sensory ability, which we call Observation Haki."

Seeing Enel's ever-changing expressions, Kizaru and Luffy exchanged glances and nodded, both understanding the meaning in each other's eyes.
So Kizaru and Luffy spoke at the same time:

Upon hearing what the other said, Wang Luffy and Kizaru felt a little awkward, as if they had both misunderstood the meaning behind each other's eyes.
Wang Luffy assumed Kizaru meant to comfort Enel, since he wasn't very good at comforting people.Kizaru, however, simply thought Wang Luffy was looking at him to find out exactly what Observation Haki was, and nodded in sync with Wang Luffy's intelligent gaze.
The little incident quickly passed, and Enel calmed down.Kizaru then spoke up, "Alright, now that you're a Marine, I also have a great opportunity for you to serve the Marines.Do you want it?"
Enel knew this was a test for him, so he said, "Just tell me what I can do, and I'll do it."

Enel was clearly not in a state of shock.He didn't reply immediately and was suddenly lifted into the air.Anyone would need a moment to catch their breath in that situation.
Seeing Enel's condition, Kizaru realized he had been too hasty, so he slowed down and waited for Enel to recover.But Luffy wasn't having it.He thought, "Before I ate a Devil Fruit, I was carried around, but now that I've eaten the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, I can fly on my own."
So, after Luffy transformed into his elemental form and broke free from Kizaru's grasp, Kizaru stared blankly at the ball of lightning.
