"You could have been working with them," Thessian continued. "You could have arranged for Marcus to take the money, create the blind spot, and help facilitate your entry."
"I could have," Liora agreed without defensiveness. "But I didn't. And I'm going to prove it beyond any doubt."
"How? What more do you need?"
"I need to interview the survivors personally," Liora said, her mind already racing ahead. "I need to go through Aria's personal effects and records to see if there's anything explaining why she was specifically targeted. I need...."
"You're not leaving that cage."
"Then bring everything to me here," Liora said with cold determination. "I can work with whatever you provide."
Thessian's jaw clenched. For a long moment, he looked like he wanted to refuse. Then he pulled out his phone.
