~Alistair's POV~
As the silence settled, a sharp question crossed my mind. "Alex?"
"Yeah?"
"On the night of that party... who was the last person you actually saw before you blacked out?"
Alex went silent for a long moment. I could feel his heart beating against mine as he sifted through the hazy, alcohol-soaked memories of Singapore. Then suddenly, his body tensed.
"Before the alcohol took over completely," he said slowly, his voice laced with a new realization, "the last person I remember seeing was my mother."
I murmured against his chest, my eyes narrowing. "Really?"
"Yes, baby," he answered, his grip on me tightening.
"What did she say to you?" I asked, my mind already beginning to piece together the final, ugly truth.
Alex sighed, his brow furrowed in concentration. "I can't really remember the exact words, Alis. I just know she was there. Her face is the last thing I saw before the world went dark."
"Did you see Sarah there? Was she with her?"
