~Alistair's POV~
I laughed, the heaviness of the night finally lifting, and broke away from his grip. I bolted for the stairs, my heart racing for an entirely different reason now.
"You have to catch me first!" I challenged, my silk robe fluttering behind me.
Alex let out a delighted shout, his heavy footsteps thundering on the stairs right behind me. I reached the bedroom door just a second before him and spun around, breathless and flushed. As he skidded to a halt, I reached out and fisted my hands in his open shirt, pulling him flush against me.
"Open it," I commanded, my voice dropping to a needy whisper.
Alex didn't waste a heartbeat. He reached behind me, fumbling with the handle until the door swung open, and he surged forward, walking me backward into the room without breaking our frantic pace. We didn't even make it to the light switch. Our mouths crashed together in a hungry, desperate kiss that tasted of reclaimed territory.
