Synopsis
The outskirts of Kusamori Village are a dark, secluded space teeming with superstition and spoken curses. The people of Kusamori Village are afraid of their very own god, an age-old destroyer-Sukuna or King of Curses. Every ten years, in order to keep the destruction of their land from being total, Kusamori villagers make a sacrifice to this god. This sacrificing process, while brutal, is something the people of Kusamori have become accustomed to doing because of fear.
This year, however, the people have chosen as their sacrifice the one who has been the recipient of their hate, and she happens to be a girl.
Suta has been lost and alone her entire life. Left on the steps of the temple as a newborn child, she has been subjected to hatred from the villagers-her very existence has made her "dirty", made her the "cause" of all misfortune, and has made her a "harbinger" of ruin. Suta has never experienced kindness, she has no comprehension of love, and she has never felt anything other than survival.
As the night of the sacrificing ritual approaches, the villagers carry Suta into the woods to a shrine that has a large, demonic deity believed to be Sukuna. They leave her laying beneath the feet of the god, knowing that he will consume her.
However, the god Sukuna does not consume her.
