"Yes. Why?" Rex replied into the receiver, his tone entirely flat and unbothered as he continued walking down the cobblestone path.
On the other end of the line, Edri put on her best, most sickeningly sweet, breathless tone, practically oozing charm through the speaker. "Aww... well, I was just wondering if you could come meet me behind the academy woods right now? It's really dark and quiet out here, and this clumsy big sister of yours got a little lost... I really need a strong junior like you to come rescue me..."
Rex didn't even slow his pace. "Nah, sorry. I can't."
"...Huh?" Edri's cute persona flickered for a fraction of a second. "W-Why not?"
"I gotta go feed someone right now," Rex said simply, pulling a piece of lint off his jacket sleeve.
A faint, unintelegible whisper echoed through the speaker as Edri muttered something dark and murderous to herself away from the mic.
