Rex cupped Edri's bloody, freezing face between his calloused palms, his thumbs gently smoothing over her cheekbones to force her heavy eyelids open.
"Edri."
No response.
Her breathing came in short, raspy hitches.
"Edri, look at me." Rex repeatedly tapped her pale cheek with gentle, insistent pressure. "Hey."
Her eyelashes fluttered, her golden eyes unfocused and swimming with haze. "...Rex?"
"Yeah. I'm right here. Hey... don't you dare close your eyes, understand? Keep looking at me. I'm getting us out of here."
Edri didn't have the strength to answer, her head limply leaning into his blood-stained palm as blood steadily seeped through her clothes.
"Shit. Shit... FUCK!" Rex cursed through gritted teeth, his mind racing.
He ripped off his already torn shirt, his raw physical stats flexing as he shredded the cleanest parts of the heavy fabric into long, tight strips.
