Chapter 2 - Ch 2: Houston's Cybermail

Admiral Klaus Smith's 33rd Fleet

Robert Morgan

January 22nd 4241

Good day to my friend, Morgan!

I am overjoyed to hear that you are satisfied with your new job! I really wished to join you on such fun and thrilling journey (what a shame!) Mira misses you, too. And I can't help but feel slightly jealous of your work, although I don't have any qualifications to be part of such grandious fleet. I really wanted to see the worlds you saw, experience the breeze of new planets and scenery. Instead of being stuck here in this terrible, polluted, and crime plagued world. I did some research on Alpha planet and Centauri City, there were pictures of what you mentioned in your Cmail. Looking at those images seems unreal compare to this world; everytime I passed by the same dark alleys of this city sends chill down my spine. Strong cyborgs who are either a member of a gang or rebels always stir trouble in the underworld. People who lived in the floating cities always dump their garbage and shits down here, making normal people sick; you know how it works out here. Mira is working hard just to buy some tickets to get out of this god-forsaken planet, meager pay and dangerous environment is not the ideal place to continue living. Everything down here never changes even when global leaders shifts, the world remains filthy. Cyberex is great at defending and creating clean energy for our planet, but they can't even get rid of the filth they tossed out here.

Yesterday, I approached Fritz to help me and Mira find new jobs away from this planet. Not just us, but also a few group of individuals were willing to do anything just to leave this hell. But the government deemed it to be illegal and forging travel documents is a crime. What difference does it make when they ignored us down here? Should we just die like trash they threw above us?

Morgan, when you ever have a chance to return home, please take us along with you! Atleast take me and Mira as your assistants, I also have some knowledge about machines and weapon handling. And Mira is pretty skilled with medical stuffs. Promise, we won't be a burden to you. Please, I had enough of walking in the same street filled with shady people, breathing the same disgusting air, looking up at the same sky filtered by floating islands, sleeping in the same bug infested room! Mira thinks the same too.

By the way, last night, the Crimson Mafia were looking for you. It was about the murder of a gang leader three days ago, they told me that you were the only person who can perfectly dismantle a cyborg body. When I told them you left earth to be a mechanic in a spaceship, they gave me those murderous gaze and left quietly. Hearing the word murder from their mouths barely surprises me, it's no stranger to everyone living in this lawless alleys.

I hope we'll see each other again, sooner. We are always praying for your safe journey. On your next Cmail, tell me more of your adventures, and I'll share them to Mira. Good Luck and stay safe!
