Chapter 7 - The Mysterious Beautiful Blonde Tenant Next Door

"Kawashima-kun, please take care of me from now on."

Kasumigaoka Utaha's smile grew even more radiant.

Perhaps the events that had just shattered her worldview, or maybe the genuine concern in Kawashima Toya's tone when he saved her, had left a mark. Her impression of this mysterious youth was exceptionally favorable.

If it were anyone else asking to move into her home, she would have called the police immediately.

Perhaps eager to learn the truth about the world as soon as possible, Utaha did something rare and hailed a taxi to take Toya home.

Although the fare was pricey, it cut the thirty-minute drive down to just fifteen.

A newly built apartment complex.

Looking at the pristine exterior of the buildings, one could tell at a glance that the rent here was far from cheap.

Utaha pointed at the apartment building and said with a smile, "I live in Room 302 on the seventh floor. That's where you'll be staying from now on too."

Writing light novels really pays well... as expected of the famous Kasumigaoka Utaha, Toya thought with a sigh.

Mystic Eyes of Death Perception!

In an instant, Toya's eyes turned a clear, sky-blue color as he scanned the apartment building.

"No anomalies," he murmured faintly.

Aside from killing, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception gifted by the Root Consciousness also possessed the ability to see through falsehoods to the truth.

Utaha leaned in close, blinking her wine-red eyes. "Is there a problem?"

She had seen those eyes—clear as the sky—just a short while ago.

Indifferent, calm, and void of any emotion.

When she first met Toya, she had been frightened by those emotionless eyes.

Although she didn't know his specific abilities, as a light novel author, she could guess that one of his powers was likely the ability to see truths that ordinary people could not.

Toya shook his head slightly. "No anomalies. The source isn't the apartment."

Utaha breathed a sigh of relief. "That's a relief."

"If the source really was here, I'd have to move. I only bought this unit less than two months ago."

"Just thinking about it is miserable."

Utaha stopped her muttering and teased, "Follow me, Kawashima-kun. Let me show you what a beautiful girl's room looks like."

Toya nodded plainly. "Let's go."

Taking the elevator up, Toya followed Utaha to the door of her apartment.

Just as Toya was about to enter, the door to the neighboring unit opened, drawing his attention.

A blonde girl walked out slowly. Her aura was elegant and gentle, like an angel descended from the heavens.

The girl's face was as exquisite as a doll. Her figure was slightly petite, and her entire being seemed to be surrounded by a holy light.

Crap, it's Gabriel!!!

Toya glanced at her in shock, then immediately averted his gaze, not daring to look directly at her.

He recognized her identity the moment he laid eyes on her.

Gabriel White Tenma.

An angel from Heaven, a truly high-ranking existence.

She might be inferior to the Great Old Ones, but her status was definitely higher than that of a human.

Although he didn't know if his own status would allow him to be fearless before an angel, it was better to be cautious.

At this point, Toya didn't fully understand what the "Status" described by the system actually entailed.

The Great Old Ones were powerful—existences he couldn't fight even without their mental pollution. Yet, when simply facing them or looking at them, his Status felt no pressure.

Gabriel noticed Toya's gaze. A gentle smile appeared on her exquisite, doll-like face.

For a split second, even though there was no actual light, it felt as if countless rays of holy light were washing over him.

"Excuse me, sir, you don't look very well. Do you need any help?"

"Thank you for your concern," Toya replied with a faint, polite smile. "I was just surprised that you could lift such a heavy object when you look so young."

She knew how to care for others, and her attitude was so gentle.

Without a doubt, this was Gabriel before she became a fallen angel.

Gabriel smiled gently. "I exercise often at home, and this isn't very heavy. I can see you're busy, so I won't disturb you."

Toya said his goodbyes to Gabriel and hurriedly entered Utaha's apartment, closing the door behind him.

Inside the room, Utaha looked puzzled, unable to understand why Toya looked as if he were facing a formidable enemy.

"What was wrong with that girl?"

"Nothing." Toya shook his head slightly, though he felt helpless internally.

This damn system... it said this was an everyday world where I'd become a max-level human.

First, the Great Old Ones appear, and now Gabriel shows up.

Behind Gabriel is Heaven itself. The backgrounds are getting scarier one after another.

If a dragon pops out in this 'everyday' world in the future, I won't be surprised at all.

After all, angels are already here. What does it matter if a dragon shows up?

"Becoming a max-level human... I have a long way to go."

Toya looked at the Method of Magic God Ascension in the system shop and sighed with emotion.
