Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: The Pokémon that were kidnapped

The alarm clock rang, Lucas sat up, rubbed his eyes, and was a bit dazed.

"Gen gar..."

Gengar hung upside down, only half of him visible from the ceiling, looking at Lucas with sleepy eyes.

Lucas took a moment to recover, his throat felt a bit sore. He looked at Gengar, "You sleep a bit longer. I'll call you when dinner is ready."

After speaking, he twisted his waist, *crackling*, and instantly felt much better.

Gengar shook his head, came down from the ceiling, and no longer slept. He mimicked Lucas twisting his... waist, presumably?!

There was no sound.

"Tsk."

"Gen gar?! Σ(°Д°;"

Gengar floated back, his hands clutching Lucas's neck, his mouth twisted, asking if he had just laughed at him again.

Lucas reached out and quickly tugged his tail.

"Swoosh..."

Looking at the deflating Gengar, Lucas nodded in satisfaction.

A counter-kill!

After playing with Gengar for a while, Lucas turned and went downstairs.

"Sister Reese?"

Seeing Jenny holding Petilil in her arms, sitting next to Shauna who was holding Vulpix and watching TV, Lucas called out.

"Uncle, you're awake."

Shauna turned her head and then asked in a clear, crisp voice.

"Yes, I'm about to make dinner for you all."

"Sister Reese came over at noon."

Hearing Shauna's words, Lucas nodded and looked at Jenny.

"Staying for dinner tonight?"

"Otherwise, what am I doing sitting here?"

Jenny said with a smile.

Lucas also laughed after hearing her, "No problem, just a moment."

Then he continued, "Gengar, Mime Jr., come give me a help."

He took out the dried bamboo shoots that had been sun-dried a while ago and used all of them to prepare a very sumptuous dinner, along with many energy blocks of various flavors.

"Everyone, dinner is served!"

Dash heard this and quickly ran into the kitchen, moving the round table to the backyard. Bolt and the others came over to help carry the dishes.

While serving rice, Lucas asked Gengar to invite Vespiquen over for dinner, though he wasn't sure if she would come.

Normally, he would have Gengar deliver energy blocks to her. She didn't seem to like crowds, and it was possible she wasn't used to human food, but she always accepted the energy blocks without hesitation, as she had contributed to making them.

Staravia flew back, right on time.

Just as Lucas thought Vespiquen wouldn't come, Gengar's figure appeared in Lucas's line of sight.

Following him was a Vespiquen.

However, she was clearly preoccupied.

Seeing her seemingly troubled, Lucas asked:

"Vespiquen, what's wrong?"

Vespiquen's crimson eyes looked at him, then she let out a cry.

"Bee..."

Emmm... couldn't understand.

Lucas focused intently.

[Vespiquen]

[Gender: Female]

[Type: Bug, Flying]

[Ability: Pressure]

[Known Moves: Slash, Sweet Scent, Struggle Bug, Poison Sting, Venoshock, Air Cutter, Confuse Ray, Roost, Aromatic Mist, Attack Order, Defend Order]

[Mood: Down]

[Status: Preoccupied]

[Friendship: 100 (You are companions in life and death, regardless of blessings.)]

[Description: The original bee colony lost their queen in the fire, and also lost some Combee. Now the bee colony in the forest lacks a queen's rule. They yearn for Vespiquen to return to their colony, but Vespiquen seems to only want to stay in the Breeding House?]

Seeing the text in the description, Lucas suddenly understood.

"Is it about the bee colony?"

Lucas asked.

Vespiquen looked at him in surprise, then nodded.

"Then why don't you go ask them if they want to come and live in the Breeding House together?"

"Bee?"

Is that possible?

"No problem, after all, the Breeding House and the forest companions are already friends, aren't they?"

Lucas said with a smile.

Seeing Vespiquen's happy retreating figure, Lucas and Gengar exchanged a smile.

Great, now there will be more honey to eat.

"Although I don't know what you two are laughing about, I know you're definitely up to no good."

Jenny picked up a piece of dried bamboo shoot, put it in her mouth, chewed it contentedly, and said.

"I'm not, I didn't, how could I? You can't wrong a good person."

Lucas responded with a triple denial.

Jenny rolled her eyes, then ignored him, eating her meal, and continuously putting food on Shauna's plate.

"Sister Reese, I can't eat this much."

Shauna's voice sounded weakly. Lucas looked into her bowl, which was already full to the brim.

"Gen gar..."

Gengar picked up a piece of dried bamboo shoot. Thinking that he wouldn't be able to eat such delicious bamboo shoots in the future, his mood became low.

"Why are you thinking so much? You eat first, and then we can just go plant more, can't we?"

Lucas directly stuffed the dried bamboo shoot into his mouth and said.

Gengar chewed and nodded repeatedly.

"Gen gar——"

That's true.

He looked down at Arcanine, who was engrossed in eating, and gently nudged him with his foot.

Arcanine's entire face was buried directly in the energy blocks. He looked back at Lucas.

"Woof?"

Lucas took the opportunity to grab his head and vigorously ruffled him.

Felt great!

"Woof?"

Arcanine looked at Lucas with a bewildered expression.

"What are you looking at?"

Gently flicking his head, Lucas asked him.

"Woof?!"

What if I am looking at you?

After saying that, Arcanine no longer paid attention to Lucas, picked up his bowl, and ran further away, continuing to feast.

Seeing that Arcanine was no longer paying attention to him, and Vespiquen had also settled her colony and flown back to eat, Lucas sighed helplessly, then lowered his head and started eating.

After dinner, he left the dishwashing to Gengar and Mime Jr., while Lucas and Jenny sat on chairs chatting.

"We caught many Pokémon Hunters this time and also rescued some Pokémon, some from other parts of our Sinnoh region, and some from other regions. We have already reported to the League, asking them to help us investigate who lost these Pokémon, and they will be returned then."

Jenny finished speaking and took a sip of the milk tea Shauna handed her.

Lucas nodded, "What about those wild Pokémon?"

"That's why I came to see you today. After discussion, we decided that for these wild Pokémon, and some Pokémon whose owners cannot be found for the time being, we will foster a portion of them at Professor Rowan's lab, and the remaining portion we plan to foster here with you, since your place is also a Breeding House."

"Here with us?"

"Yes, because some Pokémon have been left with considerable trauma due to this incident, and you happen to have experience in this area."

"Of course, there are benefits too. We also found some Pokémon Eggs from them, and we can unconditionally provide you with a portion. As for these wild Pokémon fostered here with you, once their condition improves, you can release them back into the wild, or you can help them find a trainer."

Lucas listened, unable to help but ponder.

Seeing this, Jenny didn't rush him, but just quietly drank her tea, playing with Petilil and Vulpix.

Getting some Pokémon Eggs for free was fine. As for the wild Pokémon, Gengar and the others would also help take care of them. Jenny saying he could help them find a trainer meant he could sell them?

If that was truly the meaning, then that would be pretty good too.

However, if that were the case, Lucas would definitely ask for their opinions first. If they wanted to go with a trainer, they would go; if not, he could let them return to the wild, as they were originally free.

He was just worried he wouldn't be able to manage, so after some thought, he still decided to agree.

"No problem, but can I choose the Pokémon Eggs first?"

Lucas awkwardly asked Jenny.

"I've already asked for you, no problem. They'll be delivered tomorrow."

"Thank you, Sister Reese."

Lucas felt a warmth in his heart.

"Hahahahaha, you rascal, just make more delicious food and send it to me in the future."

Jenny laughed, then gave his shoulder a punch, stood up, and left with Arcanine.

"Tomorrow, they'll be brought to you tomorrow."

After seeing Jenny out of the Breeding House, and watching Arcanine get on the motorcycle, the motorcycle instantly sagged a bit.

"Next time, no more motorcycle."

Jenny said, then twisted the throttle and left.

Closing the door and returning to the backyard, he found Gengar and Vespiquen whispering secretively, not knowing what they were talking about. Upon seeing Lucas, the two of them nodded, then separated.

Gengar floated towards Lucas, while Vespiquen flew towards the forest area.
