Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Breathing hard, but alive, I panicked at the sound of footsteps, but when I turned to see who it was. I found Tsunade walking over to my broken body. The sigh I let out made my chest protest, and that little movement had my legs flare with pain.

Tsunade looked me over with a sigh and a shake of her head. I could only chuckle at that as she knelt down and started repairing the damage to my legs. Her hands were enveloped in a massive sphere of green as she ran them over my legs.

I just laid there thinking that yes, this was my life now. My bones and flesh were knitted back together as I stared at the ceiling. Red and blue flashes drew my attention, and I shifted enough to watch the police come walking through my front door.

Well, it was at least good that they were late than to have never shown up at all in the first place. If only they could understand why there was a fuck the police rap song but never a fuck the fire department or fuck the Nurse.

With a groan, I was able to shift enough to look at the police that came in with their weapons out, flashlight active, and sweeping over the scene. Tsunade's hands glowed a light green as she ran them over my legs, cleaning off the blood with one hand while the other closed the wound.

"This is the police, let me see your hands," Whoever was in the lead demanded of us.

Tsunade snorted, while I just busted a gut laughing, then had to stop because of the cracked rib. The damn thing felt like my chest was on fire, and for some reason, it also felt like someone had a sharp stick poked into my side.

"Officer, I know you have eyes and can't be that dumb," I called out after the pain settled down a bit.

Tsunade clicked her tongue at me, "You be quiet, I haven't gotten to those ribs yet." Then she turned a glare at the lead cop. "If you haven't noticed, it's clear he isn't in any position to move, and my hands are healing. How about you start by asking if we are the homeowners, which we clearly are since you can see the E88 and infer that they arrived with a malignant purpose in mind."

I noticed the cop behind him shook her head at that, "She's not wrong Jeff, let me get a statement and you can go look around for survivors."

At that, I turned to give Tsunade a raised brow, which she returned with a sheepish look and a shrug of the shoulders. The lady who had called the other one Jeff walked over and shined the light to get a better look at us.

"You mind telling me who you are and what happened here?" Questioned the lady officer and I wanted to do just that, but the glare from Tsunade shut me down.

"His ribs are in no condition to speak Officer, but I can do that while I heal up the hard-headed fool." Tsunade answered, placed my leg down beside her and went into a tirade as she shifted to my chest.

While she spoke and updated the Officer, I kept one eye on the lady as she pulled out a pad and started to jot things down. My real attention though was on the wound on my leg sealing closed. I noticed the police gave my legs a look or two, but Tsunade ignored her and spoke of how we were startled awake when a car decided to jump the curb and land on our lawn.

My head followed the hand motion towards the outside and we could see the pickup truck out there sitting on the lawn. Though, there was a tire hanging off and into the street with the ass end of the truck. More police vehicles arrived when Tsunade shifted to work on my chest. The pain flared up as I was made to remove my hands from my dented chest armor. Tsunade couldn't fix my chest while the armor was still applying all that pressure.

This wouldn't have been an issue if the damn secure clips hadn't been wedged and welded shut from the C4's heat bloom. There was a pop and asylum sound, and the pain vanished as my ribs slotted back into place. There was some sound of movement behind me, but from my position, I couldn't even see, but I did hear a lot of muttering. The Lady Officer had a scowl on her face as she looked in that direction.

I had no choice but to sit up as Tsunade finally finished off, fixing me right as rain and took her hands off me. With a roll of my eyes, I finished taking off the chest armor and pulled myself out of the indentation I had created.

Huh, I didn't notice that from how I was planted into the ground.

With a grunt, I rolled over onto my stomach and then a hard push got me back to my feet. Offering a hand to Tsunade, I helped her stand before turning around to see why the cops were in sudden discontent. Well, they weren't showing it much but the vibe definitely shifted and I wanted to know why. It was rather clear they were on my side for killing these assholes. Yet, when I looked at the big hole created by Hookwolf's body. I noticed that Tsunade killed some and captured a few to hold as captives which I was also alright with.

It was good that at least one of us wasn't of the scorched earth type mentality. Sigh, I would need to work on that, but Uncle Sam taught me far too well. It wasn't a war crime the first time and when you kill enemies make sure it's overkill to the extreme and even then you drop a second nuke to be certain.

Standing next to Hookwolf's body was Armsmaster and he was doing some sort of examination while talking on his little recorder. Now that I could see him a lot closer, I had to admit that his armor was absolutely nothing special. Just taking a moment to think about it and I could create something not only far more advanced but also more versatile.

It shouldn't have but it did piss me off that he came and acted like he was suddenly in charge of everything. The PRT was a parahuman paramilitary force attached to Police and Emergency agencies. And that was the thing because attached was the fucking keyword. Yet, from what little I discovered and the background ROB gave me, it was clear they have been massively stepping out of their jurisdiction.

Dismissing him, I turned back to speak with the Officer and decided to check the name tag, Officer Shaw.

"Alright, it's a good thing you were able to get that armor off, gives us a chance to confirm that it was indeed just C4" Officer Shaw stated as she looked the armor over.
