Silence filled the air. The wraith froze in place, her danger level plummeting from 99% to 50% in an instant.
"Huh?" She stared blankly.
Lynn cleared his throat awkwardly. "Sorry, sister. You leaned in so suddenly—I couldn't help but kiss you. Please forgive my rudeness… you're just so my type."
The wraith blinked dazedly. "Your… type?" Thick, viscous liquid dripped from the crevice in her face, her stinking tentacles and barbs creating a scene straight out of a horror movie.
Lynn clutched his thumping heart, his cheeks flushing slightly. "Absolutely… I've admired girls with nice teeth and tentacles since I was little." He reached out, grabbed two slimy tentacles hanging from her fissure, and stroked them gently through the mucus.
"Especially slimy sisters like you—you're like the moon in my heart."
The wraith: "Uh…" Something was wrong. This human was definitely off! Why had he stayed calm when she showed her alluring form, but grown more excited when she revealed her terrifying face?!
Lynn caressed the slimy tentacles, his expression brimming with delight (*????╰╯`??). Time seemed to stand still.
Suddenly, he paused, frowning. The wraith snapped out of her daze, narrowed her eyes, and sneered. "What's wrong? I thought you loved slimy, sharp-toothed sisters?"
[Danger Level: 70%]
Lynn's expression turned serious. "I noticed something. Don't you pay much attention to oral hygiene, sister?"
The wraith glared. "What's that got to do with you?"
Lynn stood up abruptly, his tone earnest. "That's not the right attitude. A beautiful lady like you shouldn't let any flaws mar her perfection! I think you're in desperate need of a delicate maintenance session."
"And I'm a professional at this kind of care."
The wraith: "Uh…"
...
A few minutes later, Lynn looked satisfied at the wraith, whose jagged fangs now shone bright and clean. He pulled out a small bottle of breath freshener and sprayed it lightly onto her teeth.
"Don't you feel your breath is much fresher now?" He held up a mirror, smiling excitedly as he handed it to her.
The wraith stared blankly at her reflection—gleaming barbs in the split of her face, and tentacles that now smelled fresh. Truth be told, her brain had been short-circuiting this entire time. This wasn't going at all how she'd planned!
It was one thing for him not to be scared… but to get excited and give her oral care? Was this how a normal human reacted? By all rights, he should be screaming in terror and fleeing for his life!
Something was wrong. This human was seriously wrong!
Crack… Crack… The woman pressed her split face shut forcefully, returning to her seductive mature lady form. She slammed her hand on the counter, her voice cold.
"Cut the smooth talk. I'm here for business. Tell me—did you operate on a Boar Demon yesterday?"
[Danger Level: 71%]
Lynn thought for a moment. "I did."
The wraith narrowed her eyes, sneering. "You cut him open… and pulled a baby out of his stomach, didn't you?"
The Wraith Blood Infant instantly popped into Lynn's mind. "May I ask who you are?"
A murderous glint flashed in the wraith's eyes. "I'm its mother."
Lynn: "!!!"
...
This was the last thing Lynn had expected. He never would have linked the distortion-prone Wraith Blood Infant to the woman in front of him.
Lynn gaped. "Calm down, calm down. I'm just confused—how could a beautiful lady like you be with that Boar Demon? And even if you were… shouldn't you have been the one to give birth?"
The woman scoffed. "Stop playing dumb."
"You know what really happened. He must have told you—one month ago, he ate a little wraith. Unfortunately, that wraith was a piece of me that broke off."
"Now that it's taken form, I'm its mother."
Lynn: "!!!"
He forced himself to stay calm, probing cautiously. "So you're here to…?"
The woman licked her scarlet lips coldly. "Naturally, to take back my child. If I'm not mistaken, my baby has already grown into a calamitous monster, hasn't it?"
Lynn stepped back step by step, his back pressing against the medicine cabinet—he had nowhere left to run.
"Ma'am, wait a second! How can you be sure that infant is yours? If you want to take it, I think we should get the Boar Demon here to confirm in person!" He rushed to stall for time.
The woman sneered. "Confirm? Fine! I'll get him to confirm right now!"
With a retching sound, she opened her massive maw wide. A Boar Demon's head, covered in mucus, tumbled out and landed on the counter with a splat.
Thud—The half-corroded head stared straight at Lynn. He recognized it instantly—it was the Boar Demon he'd operated on yesterday!
Lynn: "(ΩДΩ)!!"
[Sanity: -20!]
[Sanity: -20!]
She'd eaten him! The Boar Demon had already been devoured by this wraith!
"Hand over my child now!" The woman advanced coldly, her tentacles swirling around Lynn.
"Maybe then I'll consider sparing your life!"
Lynn pressed himself against the wall, his tone grave. "I'll hand it over! I definitely will! It's just… well… your child might be a little different from what you imagine…"
But before he could finish, soft footsteps echoed from behind the cloth curtain. Lynn's heart skipped a beat.
The wraith's head snapped up, sensing the aura. A cold smile spread across her face. "It seems my baby heard us coming… Hehe…"
She ignored Lynn, turning to face the curtain. Her tentacles writhed wildly around her, her smile growing more twisted and chaotic.
"Perfect timing. Let me see what my child has become—an indescribable abomination? Or a forbidden wraith oozing malice? I'm so looking forward to it… Hehehe…"
Lynn swallowed hard, his eyes wide. "Ma'am, I really think you shouldn't get your hopes up!"
