Chapter 3 - Base

Lucien stealthily returned to the Red Tiger Sect, then lowered his cultivation level to just Qi Gathering Stage 4.

When he get back inside his room, Lucien quickly checked the things he had accumulated from the treasure and opportunity hunts he made this month.

Inside the ring, there was a total of 2 million spirit stones, countless herbs, thousand-year-old ginseng, hundred-year-old stargrass, Tier 2 violet fruit, and many more.

There were also countless beast cores and their bodies.

These beasts were also a bonus on this month-long journey, as along the way toward the places he needed to go, he sometimes spotted some Tier 2 beasts, like the Tier 2 three-headed green snake he found in the middle of a forest, or the Tier 2 stone shark he hunted in the sea.

Sometimes he found these beasts in the legacy areas themselves, guarding them.

He had a total of five high-quality storage rings right now, then countless of common storage ring and everything was full of items.

He had also countless techniques at Golden Core and below, countless talismans, pills, artifacts, and so many things.

He also had two Tier 3 weapons.

The Magma Sword and Sand Armor.

These two were probably some of his most valuable possessions right now.

Lucien felt happy and satisfied. With all of this, he had probably surpassed his past life, especially in spirit stones and Tier 3 weapons.

After checking everything, he threw the storage rings into his sea of consciousness and then began to plan.

Tomorrow was the Outer Sect Disciple Tournament. He planned to join it like smurfing in a server of newbies.

His goal in every life, other than ascending to immortality, was to enjoy the satisfaction of the journey–the glory, the applause, the envy, and jealousy of other people because of his strength.

Then the relationships and connections he would build in every life.

He couldn't help but smile and feel excited thinking about it.

Well, he didn't deny that as someone almost 450 years old, at least mentally. What he wanted to do seemed childish.

Where was the wisdom? Simplicity, balance, naturalness, the way of cultivation, the path?

But remember, Lucien was originally an earthling, so he brought this mindset with him.

He found cultivating in seclusion inside a cave for hundreds of years extremely boring. As for simplicity–no, he didn't want it. He wanted attention.

Maybe he would have done seclusion for hundreds of years, without lust or greed, if he didn't have the power of regression. In fact, he did it in his first life.

But now, having confirmed that he could truly regress upon his death forever, everything in this world, the people, and all of it was like a sandbox video game to him now.

He could dictate fate, do whatever he wanted, and if he didn't like the outcome, everything would reset in his next life, with him possessing even greater strength to change the new destiny however he wished.

He wouldn't change this mindset. He would forever cling to this earthling mentality, because without it, his journey would be empty and boring.

After contemplating for some time, he formed his next plan.

The Tier 3 spiritual vein located in the central area of Mist Island. He had already seized it, and he planned to make his base, or rather his house, there.

He couldn't possibly do what he wanted inside the Red Tiger Sect. He couldn't do alchemy, concoct pills, make talismans, practice arrays, or use Golden Core–level techniques there.

He couldn't do it if he still wanted to pretend to be this simple Outer Sect Disciple named Lucien.

Lucien nodded at this idea.

Later that night, he flew out again and headed toward the Tier 3 spiritual vein area.

He remembered that this Tier 3 spiritual vein was the reason the strongest sects on Mist Island, including the Red Tiger Sect, went to war to control it. It was deadly and desperate, as it was a Tier 3 vein while all sects there only possessed Tier 2 spiritual veins.

That war was also the reason he died in his first life.

Lucien sighed.

He then began to make an array. It was no problem, as he had many spirit stones and was also a peak Tier 1 Array Master.

In his past life, he had studied arrays as well.

After making it, he couldn't help but feel disappointed. Maybe he should hire a higher-tier array master in the future to set up defenses at his base.

A Tier 1 array, Even a Foundation Establishment cultivator could easily break it.

But it was still better than nothing.

Later, he planned to tame a Tier 2 beast to add some protection to his base.

Minutes later, he finally finished making the cave.

This cave was not bland. As a modern earthling in his past life, he also prioritized aesthetics and comfort.

He added a comfortable pelt carpet made from Tier 2 wolves on the floor.

He also added paintings on the walls that he had just made. He was a master painter by using his consciousness, the brush moved on its own and painted perfectly according to his will.

The paintings depicted city buildings and airplanes flying in the sky.

This was his aesthetic and nostalgia. Forests or nature weren't really aesthetically pleasing to him anymore, since they were everywhere in this world.

Great waterfalls, mountains, and more.

After that, he created lighting using his qi energy. Then he made an alchemy room, bedroom, kitchen, comfort room, talisman room, and sauna.

As a peak Golden Core cultivator, he could make all of this in just a few hours.

And by the way, Lucien created an alchemy and talisman room because he was also a peak Tier 1 alchemist and a respected peak Tier 3 talisman master.

He had greater talent in talismans.

In his 300 years of his past life, he hadn't wasted time. Other than cultivation, he also focused on other professions.

After everything was set up, Lucien left his base and quickly returned to the Red Tiger Sect. It was already nearing dawn.

This morning, the outer sect tournament would begin.

Lucien didn't sleep or eat. He didn't get tired, as he was a peak Golden Core monster. Even a late-stage Qi Gathering cultivator wouldn't get tired after not sleeping for a week, so how much more for him?

As for eating, even though starting from Golden Core one no longer needed food and could survive by absorbing the spiritual qi of heaven and earth but Lucien still preferred to eat traditionally. What was the use of having a tongue otherwise? Eating was a bliss, one of the best parts of being alive.

A few minutes later, he was back in his room again and took a piece of meat from a Tier 2 demonic beast.

After eating, he would later go to register and enter the tournament.

This was surely a grand event inside the sect; even elders and inner sect disciples would watch it.
