Chapter 15 - Seymour Manufacturing

Sophia's would be pissed if she found out what I used to make this dagger, but luckily there was no way she could figure it out. It was the only thing I could find in the moment and since she left it lying on the bathroom floor.

My father held the dagger and just as before, he slammed it down on the bed frame. This time though, the result was different. The dagger sliced through the wooden bed frame as if it was made of paper.

"Wow, you actually managed to make a powerful weapon. I'm certain that this will pass the weapon test," he wrapped his hand over my shoulder and embraced me in a hug. "I'm proud of you, son. Now all that is left is for you to sign the documents to start your own company."

"Yes, about those documents. There seems to be some misunderstanding." I said.

"Hmm? What do you mean?"

Jonathan's expression froze, and he looked at me with an expression that made it look as if he was confused. Seeing this, I pulled out the documents.

"Right here, it says we'll be splitting the company 50/50 and that this is a partnership," I said, showing him the documents.

"Oh yes, is something wrong?"

"Yes, this isn't a partnership. Your position in my company is a salary position. You'll be given base wage and commissions based on how many of my weapons you manage to sell."

For a moment, his expression froze still.

"I just thought that…"

"I invited you to be a part of this because I thought you wouldn't want to continue working at that factory."

"But I..." He wanted to argue but he knew I held all the cards. If he backed out then I could easily find someone else. He had little choice seeing as he didn't want to go back to the factory where he was a laughing stock. Even if that meant bowing his head to his own son.

"Yes, you're right…"

"And also, here is another document that I need you to sign," I said, handing him the document in question.

My charm stat was pulling the heavyweights during our discussion. It made things a lot smoother. Because of that, he didn't even read the contract I handed him.

It was actually a demonic contract. The contract says that his health would deteriorate every time he does something that jeopardizes my company.

My father was a shady businessman after all. Who is to say he wouldn't be foolish to try and regain his past glory. He even tried to take half my company without a proper negotiation. If I hadn't read it before I signed, then I would've been screwed.

I stayed in my father's room until he drafted up a proper contract, and after reviewing it thoroughly, only then did I sign.

With that, this was the start of the Seymour Manufacturing Limited. Since I was creating the weapons with my skills, then it meant there weren't any upfront costs, like factories and raw materials. Everything gained would be profit.

It will be a small business since I'm the only one making weapons, but it still has the possibility of earning a decent amount of cash.

"I've already found a guild willing to give us a chance. I'll need you to create a few more weapons of different types," he said.

"That's good. Right now I can only handle one contract with one guild."

Jonathan quickly nodded his head.

"Yes, that's understandable. You have your entrance ceremony to prepare for in a few months. Oh, by the way, congratulations again for getting into the hero academy. You and Sophia have done well. Your mom and I are proud of you both."

Because of my time with Jeffrey, I had managed to get my proficiency up to a whopping 5.2. This was just good enough to be accepted inside the academy. While Sophia had managed to get her proficiency up to 6.8 just from training with her scythe. This was the difference between a B rank and a D ranked talent.

Even in the academy, she would be considered one of the top students. I had six months until my entrance ceremony. That meant I had six months to get this business up and running.

For the next 6 months, Jonathan and I worked tirelessly to set everything up. We managed to secure a contract with a guild called SeekersOfWorld. It wasn't a high-ranked guild. The guild mostly focused on exploring other worlds, so I mostly made tools like pickaxes, shovels, and other tools to help with mining.

Of course, these tools had to be specially made, which was why they enlisted my company's help in the first place. My father and I had acquired a small warehouse where he would work from and keep the tools I created.

We also bought a cheap pair of transportation devices. One device would be kept in the warehouse, and the other device would be kept with me.

When I created a weapon, all I needed to do was place it on the device and input the code for the other device kept in the warehouse. Just like that, whatever I put on the device would be transported to the warehouse.

This device was a lifesaver and made things all the more convenient.

After the six months had passed, it was finally time for Sophia and me to enter the academy.
