Chapter 248 - Chapter 248: The Heretic Within the Dream

Inside the dream.

Lucas walked across a desolate wasteland.

Deafening thunder roared endlessly in his ears. The earth seemed to be displaying its divine fury—shockwaves far more terrifying than the super-earthquake that once struck Los Angeles rippled outward.

The ground split open again and again, forming massive fissures no less than a hundred meters wide, like enormous wounds torn across the planet's surface.

In the distance, volcanoes erupted violently.

Even the smallest of them, if placed on Earth, would qualify as a supervolcano capable of triggering global climate catastrophe and human extinction.

Yet Lucas strolled calmly, utterly unconcerned by the hostile environment.

First, he knew this was his own dream.

Second—even in reality—none of this could harm him.

"When did I start having dreams like this?"

At his level of power, he understood dreams clearly.

Within his own dreamscape, he was virtually invincible—unless confronted by an existence many tiers beyond him. And such beings were exceedingly rare in the entire universe.

It was nearly impossible for one of them to casually descend into his dream just to target him.

Besides, some higher beings might not even exist in this merged universe.

Lucas walked for what felt like a long time—until he suddenly stopped.

He sensed something abnormal.

The anomaly stood out clearly—like a drop of black ink in a pure white world, or a streak of light within absolute darkness.

With a flicker, he vanished and reappeared at the source.

It was another erupting volcano.

Without hesitation, Lucas stepped straight into the magma.

Molten lava that would instantly annihilate ordinary humans felt like nothing to him.

As he descended deeper, he found it.

A dark brown sphere suspended within the magma.

Its surface rippled with distorted, flowing brown energy.

Lucas frowned.

Why would something like this exist in his dream?

Instead of approaching directly, he extended a strand of mental energy toward it.

The moment his energy neared the sphere, the flowing surface reacted violently.

The brown energy surged like boiling liquid, rapidly condensing before shooting toward him in an instant.

Lucas reacted immediately, raising a barrier of energy with a flick of his hand.

But the brown force smashed through it effortlessly.

The shattered fragments dispersed—and the energy coiled tightly around his body.

Lucas frowned and instinctively tried to break free.

Then—

A whisper echoed beside his ear.

"Come here~"

In the next instant, his entire body trembled.

The energy within him felt locked—unresponsive, uncontrollable.

"What is this?"

It was the first time he had experienced such a situation.

This was his dream. His domain.

Yet the brown energy bound him like steel chains restraining an ordinary man.

For a fleeting moment, a thought surfaced.

Maybe… just give up.

Lucas' pupils narrowed.

"No. That's not my thought."

When would he ever entertain such defeatist thinking?

The instant realization struck him—

His aura exploded outward.

Golden light burst forth as he transformed into a Super Saiyan.

The violent surge of power shattered the brown restraints instantly.

"Damn it. This is my dream. My world!"

His overwhelming spiritual force rippled outward, reshaping the dreamscape.

Now fully awakened within the dream, he reclaimed absolute control.

Lightning crackled around him.

His golden aura intensified, shifting from a blazing flame into a roaring torrent.

His hair sharpened further, and a single lock fell across his forehead.

He smiled faintly.

This was Super Saiyan Two.

In reality, he had already reached full-power Super Saiyan but had deliberately refrained from advancing further.

Raw power without sufficient spiritual foundation would be reckless—like a child swinging a war hammer.

In fact, forced advancement might weaken overall combat effectiveness.

But here—within his dream—he had no such limitations.

If anything, this served as training.

He might even be able to reach Super Saiyan Three.

Still, since he only understood that form from records rather than personal experience, he chose to remain in Super Saiyan Two.

Now free, Lucas focused on the brown sphere.

He could sense something within it—

An indescribable form.

It felt like chaos… yet paradoxically ordered.

That extreme contradiction unsettled him deeply.

Suddenly, the sphere began to deform.

Something inside seemed ready to break free.

Before Lucas could react, the sphere burst like a balloon.

Chaotic energy surged outward—but remained confined within a limited radius.

Then, before his astonished eyes, the swirling energy condensed.

Into a humanoid shape.

"A human?"

Lucas didn't hesitate.

Anyone who attacked him would receive no mercy.

He hurled a condensed energy blast at the forming figure.

Just before impact, the incomplete humanoid extended its not-yet-finished arm.

The palm distorted and expanded like a monstrous mouth—

And swallowed the energy sphere whole.

In the very next second, the creature's physical formation accelerated dramatically.

"It's growing… by consuming my energy?"

Lucas stopped attacking.

But the entity, as though having tasted something delicious, lunged toward him eagerly.
