The box was still sitting there, menacingly, knowing I was looking at it and pleased. I poked it with my finger, but nothing exploded. Disappointing, honestly.
"I do not like that it's still here." I muttered.
Aiden leaned closer, squinting at the contents like it might bite him.
"You are saying that like it might get up and run away."Aiden said.
"I am saying that like it might wait." I snapped. "Predators wait."
Wanessa, traitor that she was, dragged over a chair and sat backward on it, chin on her hands.
"This is so intimate though. He didn't just send food. He sent your food. Cut the way you like it. Soup you only order when you're stressed. Chocolate you pretend you don't care about."Wanessa teased.
My soul tried to leave my body again.
"I do not pretend." I said weakly.
"I think we need salt. Or garlic. Or a restraining order."Michael crossed himself.
