IN A BIT
ISABELLA
The knock didn't come politely, it came like a declaration of war. The door burst open.
"ISABELLA."I heard a loud, similar female voice.
Wanessa stormed in first, heels sharp against marble, eyes blazing. Michael followed half a second later, out of breath, jacket crooked, clearly having jogged the entire hallway because of panic.
"There she is." Wanessa said, pointing dramatically at me on the bed. "Alive. Fed. Being-" her gaze flicked to Xavier's open shirt, the tray, the proximity. "-menaced."
"I am not being menaced." I said automatically.
"She is being nourished." Xavier raised a brow.
Michael stared at the tray, then at me, and then at Xavier.
"Is that hot chocolate?"He asked.
"Yes." Xavier replied calmly.
Michael exhaled like a man who had just lost a philosophical argument with reality.
"Okay. That's actually worse."He said.
Wanessa crossed the room in three strides and grabbed my hand.
"We are leaving."She said.
