Amara's POV
The security guard was still processing what had just happened when I stepped forward, pressing the axe blade against the attacker's throat and ripping off his mask.
"Wait! Stay back... It's not safe!" The guard rushed toward me with his riot shield raised.
But he froze the moment he got a clear look at the man's face. "You're... you're..."
My eyes locked onto the figure sprawled on the ground. "Mr. Beaudoin. It's been a while."
Byron's glare burned with hatred.
His expression looked like he wanted to tear me apart.
I stared back at him like he was nothing more than entertainment.
Tossing the axe carelessly to one side, I looked down at Byron with complete disdain. "Still want me dead?"
I'd always understood there was someone stronger out there.
But some random loser clearly wasn't going to be a problem for me.
Byron was still trying to scramble to his feet and bolt.
I wasn't about to let that happen.
